It’s been just over a month since I got back, and things have definitely picked up quickly.

With the season starting to heat up, I’ve been straight back into inspecting some really nice boats for a mix of new clients and plenty of familiar faces coming back for their next one.

This Palm Beach 38 was one of the recent jobs - a great looking boat and a pretty nice way to spend a day at work.

I said I was taking the rest of the year off… but plans have changed.

Earlier this year, we went all in. We sold our boat, packed up the house, put everything into storage, and headed overseas for what was meant to be a proper European boating adventure.

The plan was to join another family in Spain aboard an 84ft boat, help get her ready for the season, and spend some real time on the water as a family.

When we arrived, it became clear the boat, while amazing, was still deep in refit mode. There was a lot more to be done than expected, and the timeline was longer than we could realistically wait around for with our young family.

We genuinely hope they get her launched and enjoy the season soon. It’s a beautiful boat, and we’d still do it all again. We’re boat people, and sometimes boating adventures require a bit of a pivot.

So, after some time away with the family, I’m heading back to Sydney and will be back inspecting boats from late July.

I am regrettably selling my 1994 Riviera 39 Flybridge, "Dalemma". Named after my 2 year old son Dallas and his best friend Emma, we've loved spending every weekend on the water with our family and friends enjoying all that boating has to offer.

Dalemma has bought us so many special memories, and I would love to the opportunity to show you what a great boat she is.

Brett has been a huge part of the business, bringing professionalism, knowledge, and a strong work ethic to every job. His contribution hasn’t gone unnoticed, and he’ll definitely be missed by both myself and our clients. Wishing you all the best in your next chapter, mate.

Here's one of the latest 2024 @rivieraboats 46 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition's we inspected mid last year for a client at @marinatrinitypoint.

Don't be fooled by the title of 46 – this boat is 50' overall length and I was surprised at how much volume was packed inside. This one was a 3 stateroom model, and the massive design advantage is having full beam master cabin! I know I'm harping on like a salesperson here, but this boat was really impressive.

Throwback to #2016 - we’d been in business for just over a year.
The Riviera 6000 was the hottest boat to drop at the Sydney Boat Show, and my life back then was a small glimpse of what it’s become 10 years later.

My “girlfriend” Rach (now my wife and the mum of our two boys) came to the boat shows with me, showing support from day one.

I did our very first photoshoot for the website, inspected everything from diesel to IPS and outboard boats, and dreamed big. There was no Gold Coast or Perth operation yet - just trips to the Gold Coast Boat Show and a lot of imagining what the future could look like.

We caught up with Steven, a Qantas engineer, 4 years after we surveyed his boat. Back in 2021 he was in the market for a sports cruiser, so we suggested he find something re-powered. After switching from a 2010 Sea Ray 470 to this beautiful 2019 Chris Craft 34, this client said he wanted something a tad smaller he could use during the day with his extended family.
With room for 12, this well maintained Chris Craft just oozes class. Powered by a pair of high compression Volvo V8 300HP motors, we got a top speed of 42 knots on the sea trial, even with some moderately choppy and windy conditions. This 2011 Fairline 55 had all the right works completed, having been under professional management most of its life since new. With a top speed of 25 knots, the Volvo D12 715HP engines were running sweet.
