🚤 Selling your boat? Now is NOT the time to skimp on maintenance.
On our hardstand, Collin has seen it all — and he’s got a story that proves just how expensive “saving money” on antifouling can be.
What started as putting off routine maintenance ended in a repair bill of around $30,000. 😳
If you’re preparing your boat for sale, remember: buyers notice the details, surveys uncover the truth, and neglected maintenance can cost far more than doing the job properly in the first place.
🎥 Listen to Collin’s story and learn why keeping up with your antifoul is one investment that always pays off.

We jagged some cracking weather for the sea trial to @mbtbc in Manly today, onboard the 2005 Dyna 51 Flybridge.

Thank you to Brett @boatbuy for looking after the pre-purchase survey and mechanical inspections, including taking oil samples for added peace of mind.

Without adequate protective coating systems corrosion can accelerate. In this case this steel tug has suffered full thickness penetrations into the plating. In addition, the frames have also suffered. The round holes are core samples of the steel. In the case of this vessel the engine will be lifted out, the compartment blasted and a new coating system applied, in conjunction with new hull plating. Had the inspection not identified these issues it is highly likely the vessel would have lost watertight integrity in the engine compartment.

Another great Bond boat (Glastron - Carlson) with a Berkeley Jet, at the International Spy Museum. As a marine surveyor I’ll probably need to do a bit of CPD to properly survey the sea mine ejector system and optional hang glider unit.

Take your mate to work day, but this time, he’s the buyer!

Helping clients find the right boat is always rewarding, but when the client is also a good friend, it makes the process even more enjoyable.

Today was the survey and sea trial of a Riviera 39 Open Flybridge, where I had the pleasure of representing a friend on the purchasing side for a change.

This sale is being handled in conjunction with @baileywilsonbroker from @peterhansenyacht with Brett from @boatbuy conducting a comprehensive survey to assess the vessel. As part of the process, the lift and hold took place at the Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club, providing the necessary facilities for a thorough out of water inspection.

Spending the day on the water, working alongside experienced professionals, and assisting a friend in securing the right vessel, there are certainly worse ways to spend the day.
