Philly- this isn't my goodbye post. Not yet anyway. But sadly this is a farewell for now! Things are signature official and I'm moving to Virginia before the end of the month 🥲 to take on a new attorney position.

Come celebrate with me on June 9th 🥂 taken in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by @bobash15

In June 2020, BrownTown chatted with Ashli Giles-Perkins (@bobash15) and Ebonée Green (@sylicimaee) about the fight for a Obama Community Benefits Agreement (@obamacba) around the then-upcoming Obama Presidential Center in Jackson Park. They discussed how COVID and the uprisings greatly impacted the organizing strategy and framing of the CBA against the backdrop of Black displacement, gentrification, and policing. Here, Ebonée emphasizes the richness of Black culture and life in Chicago, further underscoring why Black residents and all residents have a right to stay in their neighborhoods.

@soapboxpo paired this episode with a micro-doc and editorial piece that dropped the same day as the passage of the Woodlawn Housing Preservation Ordinance, legislation to help protect existing residents in the area. Five years later, the fight for more protections for surrounding residents continues.

This birthday means more to me than I ever imagined it would. Exactly a month ago, just DAYS into 2025, I was struck by a truck on my way to work. One moment I was singing along to the music, the next all I could smell were the fumes pouring out of the airbag.
That airbag, and that seatbelt, saved my life💔🙏🏽 I didn't have to be here today, lapping the Sun a 32nd time♒, but I am and I thank God for it. He's not Not done with me yet! More laughter, more smiles, more friendship, more love, more life, more EVERYTHING and everyone. Grateful. Blessed. Favored. Happy birthday to me!!! by @bobash15
