In June 2020, BrownTown chatted with Ashli Giles-Perkins (@bobash15) and Ebonée Green (@sylicimaee) about the fight for a Obama Community Benefits Agreement (@obamacba) around the then-upcoming Obama Presidential Center in Jackson Park. They discussed how COVID and the uprisings greatly impacted the organizing strategy and framing of the CBA against the backdrop of Black displacement, gentrification, and policing. Here, Ebonée emphasizes the richness of Black culture and life in Chicago, further underscoring why Black residents and all residents have a right to stay in their neighborhoods.

@soapboxpo paired this episode with a micro-doc and editorial piece that dropped the same day as the passage of the Woodlawn Housing Preservation Ordinance, legislation to help protect existing residents in the area. Five years later, the fight for more protections for surrounding residents continues.

A little experimentation with a side of #ASMR. Introducing the Vigo In The East— Blended Scotch, Vigo Amaro, Sweet Vermouth, & Aromatic Bitters.

Vigo Amaro shines in this cocktail that is neither really a Manhattan, or a Rob Roy. Vigo Amaro, from @philadelphiadistilling where it is handcrafted, meets blended scotch, with a touch of bitterness and sweetness. ✨A Modified Mixology original 🥂

We’re screaming Happy International Women’s Day to our founder, @bobash15!

When she’s not serving up drinks and running the team behind Modified Mixology, she’s serving looks in court as a lawyer!

We’re so inspired by all that you do every single day (trust us— she does A LOT) and want to thank you for always being a positive example in our community while keeping it #mixi behind the bar 🥂
