I caught up with the @middlesbroughartweek team at the weekend to chat a bit about my painting Art. Work. (II), currently displayed as part of their exhibition Lineage: Painting from the Tees Valley.

It’s a cracking group show of Tees Valley artists working in the medium of paint. Just one of the many things to catch at this years MAW over the next week - if you’ve not been already.

Big thanks again to the MAW and @theauxiliaryprojectspace for once again providing me with the platform to make and exhibit new work x by @bobbybenjamin

What an amazing night celebrating the arrival of The Turner Prize in Middlesbrough. So cool to have this in MIMA. Fantastic job from @amancalledadam_hq on curating a beautiful after show party at Town Hall and for inviting me along to host. An huge moment for our town - loved getting to share the experience with our Roman too 🖤 by @bobbybenjamin

It’s all kicking off in the Boro!

Today sees the launch of @middlesbroughartweek brought to you by @theauxiliaryprojectspace and featuring a whole bunch of shows all over town. It’s always amazing so do go explore.

Also this week we have the launch of the prestigious Turner Prize at MIMA - who’d have thunk it eh?!

For my part I’ll be exhibiting new, unseen work as part of Lineage: Painting from the Tees Valley. Such a cool opportunity to be a selector and exhibitor on this show and to display alongside @debcovell @kt_tomlinson @errolaart @cooney_sarah @gordondalton666 @___kabird @juniordurraniart @codysowerby @phil.gatenby @nelhumeart

Then I’ll be off to Town Hall where I’m on hosting duties for the Turner Prize after show party. Previous hosting experience includes a couple of poetry nights that about 5 people attended so that should be interesting!

Then there’s an after after show party at the Auxiliary too. Nowt to do with me that one but I’ll be going along for a dance - too right!

Dropped my work off for @middlesbroughartweek at a beautiful Victorian setting just past Albert bridge, behind the train station. Proper treat looking around the place - always been curious bout those buildings.

MAW opens next week, as does the Turner Prize at MIMA, so pretty cool week for Boro next week by @bobbybenjamin

I’ve been busy painting (or at least making something out of paint) for a very exciting exhibition with @middlesbroughartweek . It’s taken forever to make the thing - can’t wait to have it out of my living room for a couple of weeks. Here’s a lil teaser… by @bobbybenjamin

Working manuscript. It’s taken a few years to write and might take a few more to edit, but I’m in no rush. Reaching this stage feels significant. by @bobbybenjamin
