💥TURNER PRIZE LAUNCH AND AFTER PARTY 2026 💥

Whew! Our feet have just about touched the ground but we're finally finding some time to process last week. 🤯

And what a week it was, collaborating with MIMA, Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art and A Man Called Adam to pull off the most fabulous series of launch events that the Turner Prize has ever seen.

It was an absolute joy and honour to produce this momentous occasion that landed right on our doorstep. For us, it's more than just art.

It's a chance to show the world that creativity lives and thrives here in Teesside. 💛

🚨🚨🚨 We’ve been flat out behind the scenes and we’re thrilled to announce our collaboration with @mimauseful to celebrate the launch of the Turner Prize in Teesside. In these troubling times, it feels really important to show Teesside in a positive light - a place where its creative communities come together to make magical things happen. 🙏❤️

The Turner Prize 2026 launch on the 24th September will see the global Arterati arriving in the North East. To celebrate this huge day for Middlesbrough and the region, and in collaboration with the Turner Prize hosts MIMA (Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art), A Man Called Adam have been commissioned to curate a dazzling night of entertainment that showcases Teesside’s extraordinary musical and creative talent.

The multi-sensory experience will feature a HiFi listening lounge (in partnership with @q_acoustics ), vinyl and tape DJ sets, live music, MCs, comedy, a reggae sound system, drinks and food at Middlesbrough’s historic Town Hall.

🚨🚨🚨On Thursday next week (14.05.26) @mimauseful will host 26 of the UK’s brightest and best emerging artists, hipsters and dignitaries for the opening of the @new_contemporaries exhibition.

To celebrate this landmark launch, we’re incredibly grateful to them for giving us a free hand to programme and organise an after-party that showcases the incredible energy and dynamism of the Middlesbrough art scene.

With our friends @theauxiliaryprojectspace we’ll be presenting a night of leftfield, underground music, visual and performance art that we hope does justice to the astonishing creativity Teesside has to offer.

We’ve put a line-up together drawn from talent we’ve spotted at events organised by the many brilliant local curators, artists and organisations – like Steve Kirby’s powerhouse noise art label and nights for @industrialcoast, @bobbybenjamin genius @spagnorth dos, @teesside.dub.club bone-rattling dub sessions, @creativefactoryboro’s amazing pop-ups and of course The Auxiliary and @middlesbroughartweek, to name just a few.

Alongside performance art (@kea.eloisexo), The Future Sound of Teesside (@sebhewison and Haydn Landis) and @movingskye, there’ll be songs about love and Crocs (@gladtownghost ), killer drag (@reesewetherspooon ) and dub (@sir.racha.sound.system). @Steveotronics will be in charge of live Teesside inspired A/V and @sallycalledadam will be manning the decks playing Italo Disco, No Wave, Northern Soul and more. Oh, and there’ll be specially created “Hotshot & 01642” cocktails plus a RAFFLE! Imagine the most alternative working men’s club ever and you’ll be on the right track 

It really is all happening round these parts and if you’d like to attend, just drop full names in the comments and we’ll put you on the guestlist. Be quick though, its free and space is limited. 😀❤️

April Recap in Disgraceland 👗🕺🔉🎧❤️

After a rough 8 months, I honestly felt like I’d fallen down a hole I couldn’t quite climb out of — running on fumes - several meltdowns - but just got on with getting out of it….then April happened it was definitely a shift ❤️

Our 30th birthday — somehow turned into me reopening the vintage shop (standard behaviour).

Then it just kept building… Disgraceland Dress Up Disco 🪩 shop back alive, a few big collabs quietly cooking in the background.

Mid-month we had some proper events — the kind that remind you this is exactly where you’re meant to be (even when you’ve been questioning everything).

And we finished on a massive high — the Disgraceland vintage collab with WTNFA and a very lively open decks night that’s already opened a few new doors… and a week long hangover for me 🙄🤣

To everyone who stuck around, showed support, checked in, came to events, bought vintage, shared posts, danced, believed in it and believed in me when I probably didn’t myself…..Love Always ❤️

Now onto May 💫

We spoke to @bobbybenjamin creator of @spagnorth about his recent residency at No.46. Since December he has been putting on a series of pop up creative cultural happenings ranging from art exhibitions, poetry nights, music, swap shops, book launches and sonic arts - we’ve loved every second of it!

Creative Factory 2.0 is the next chapter in how Middlesbrough supports the artists, creatives and innovators who shape our town’s identity. It’s more than one building - it’s a growing network of sustainable spaces that create. Studios, living spaces, workshops and venues where creativity can take root and grow.

Huge thanks to Bobby, all the artists involved and everyone that came down to join us! It’s been an amazing few months and we can’t wait to re-open the factory doors!
