The Rock Family Band written by @bobtregoning illustrated by @mlaura.art and published by @oxfordchildrens

All of the Rock Family enjoy playing in their glamour rock band except for Sam who doesn’t feel like he fits in. Sam just wants to have some peace and quiet so he can practice for his flute recital, while his family are always loudly jamming together. He’s also anxious that on the day of his recital his family will embarrass him as they can’t sit still and be quiet. But when it’s Sam’s time on the stage he’s struck by stage fright and he realises, he and his family aren’t that different after all.

This is a really inclusive book, but handled in such a matter of fact way. Sam lives with his 2 Dads, Grandmother and Non-Binary Sibling as well as a sister and a dog. But Sam is not embarrassed by how his family identify, he’s just embarrassed by how fabulous they are, fortunately by the end of the book he learns to embrace their individuality and differences. We really enjoyed this story as the Rock Family are a lot of fun, we’d absolutely love to rock out with them. It’s told in rhyme and really fun to read and the themes of being different yet having things in common is lovely. The illustrations are amazing full of colour and you can almost see the music.

Do you need a new text to teach the water cycle? A bit bored of the same old information texts? Then this one is such a lovely alternative! 💧❄️

This beautifully illustrated rhyming story follows Snow as she melts and begins her journey through the water cycle. She changes. She travels. She transforms. But eventually she discovers something rather wonderful… she is water, and she has always been water. I love how the gentle, poetic storytelling brings the science to life without making it feel like a lesson.

Perfect for classrooms and home education settings alike. A gorgeous way to explore the water cycle, changes of state and how water moves through our world. Science, poetry and storytelling rolled into one beautiful book. I absolutely love this one! 💧

Have you got disco fever? Have you got the groove? Dylan certainly has! 🪩

He can’t help but dance and groove his way around the dance floor beneath the sparkling disco ball. But there’s just one problem… why isn’t anyone else dancing like him?

Dylan starts to wonder if he’s doing something wrong. Should he stop dancing altogether? Luckily, with a little help from Daisy and that magical disco ball, Dylan finds his dancing shoes again and gets back out there, making shapes and doing what he loves!

A brilliant little story about self-confidence, being yourself and not letting what others are doing stop you from doing what makes you happy. A lovely one for KS1 classrooms with plenty to chat about. Now… somebody turn up the music! 🎶
