I'm hesitant to say something like "now THAT'S an iceberg!", but before leaving Twillingate we noticed a second, much more impressive piece of ice and followed it to a second, much more impressive location that was teeming with iceberg-crazed photographers. While my photo doesn't capture its impressive scope, I feel like it does capture just how fucking cold it was there.

Very cool iceberg, though. 10/10. taken in Twillingate, Newfoundland and Labrador by @bonervivant

Icebergs don't do a whole lot for me. Maybe it's because growing up they were a semi-common occurrence,or maybe it's because it's just a bunch of frozen water. Either way, our trip to Twillingate, Newfoundland was marked by two iceberg "experiences", of which this is the first (and least). Still, the surrounding scenery was quite powerful, and one can imagine some slack-jawed mainlander (or.. ugh.. "come from away") staring in awe at its magnificence.

All that writing is not meant to diminish what was a very incredible view. taken in Twillingate, Newfoundland and Labrador by @bonervivant

Some people got very upset at me for insulting the (awful, rusty old) Kyle, with some suggesting I research its history instead of insulting it. Those people will also be upset at my thoughts on the HMS Calypso, which sits rusting in Jobs Cove, Newfoundland. It had a long history (built in 1887! Salt.. uh.. was stored in it!) and now its just a rusty old shity pile of garbage. taken in Lewisporte, Newfoundland and Labrador by @bonervivant

We discovered this giant lobster outside a fish and chips shop in Lewisporte, Newfoundland. Did you know that it's a very common belief (in Newfoundland and elsewhere) that drinking milk while eating lobster can create a toxic combination that will make you sick? Anyway, that's not true. Also, this isn't even a real lobster. taken in Lewisporte, Newfoundland and Labrador by @bonervivant

Here's the thing.. It's a beautiful province. No doubt about it. But today it's cold and rainy and overcast and it'll probably stay that way for another five days. So my advice to the traveler enticed to visit Newfoundland due to promises of clotheslines and sou'westers (look it up!) is to take advantage of the nice days. That's what I did, and look how happy I am.

A few years back late night comedian Jimmy Kimmel briefly focused on the community of Dildo, Newfoundland due to its ribald and somewhat "naughty" name. Of course, Newfoundlanders - and in-the-know visitors - have been taking photos under the Dildo sign for many years. Not this sign. The road sign. This Hollywood-esque version was installed by Kimmel's crew and is a bit on the nose (and apparently also on private property so you can't walk up near it for further fun). Still, it remains a testament to naming your community after a marital aid. taken in Dildo, Newfoundland And Labrador by @bonervivant

Heart's Desire also contained a lot of what I would refer to as "Newfoundland Detritus". This being old lobster cages, anchors, baskets and the like. When you look at these things, the song "Saltwater Joys" automatically starts playing no matter where you are in the province. taken in Heart's Desire, Newfoundland and Labrador by @bonervivant

While visiting Heart's Desire, Newfoundland we encountered this (evil?) goat among a menagerie of animals attempting to block our way. He just stared at us, presumably recognizing our pure intentions.

He did not tell us to live deliciously, sadly. taken in Heart's Desire, Newfoundland and Labrador by @bonervivant

OK, one more beautiful New Perlican picture. I have pictures of Old Perlican but they make me sick to even think about. Anyone living in Old Pelican are fooling themselves. taken in New Perlican, Newfoundland and Labrador by @bonervivant

I'm just going to say it. New Perlican, Newfoundland beats the shit out of Old Perlican, Newfoundland. Look how calm and beautiful this looks! Every direction I turned would have fit perfectly into a "Scenes of Newfoundland" calendar. taken in New Perlican, Newfoundland and Labrador by @bonervivant

Harbour Grace has a brand new Amelia Earhart statue after the previous one was stolen in the dead of night and dissasembled to be sold for scrap. This one isn't going anywhere, unlike Earhart who crashed and was eaten by crabs. taken in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland and Labrador by @bonervivant
