New season, same mission. ✨

Hi! I’m Dawn Cooper, owner of Boneshaker Adventures. Whether you’ve been here for years or just found this page, I wanted to reintroduce myself and share a little about what we do.

To kick things off, here are some quick facts about me and the business:

⏳How it started:

Since 2015, Boneshaker Adventures has served the community through growth-focused mountain bike programs. I believe that mountain biking can be a powerful catalyst for positive change.

🦸‍♀️Our superpower:

We empower mountain bikers. Through our transformative youth programs, skills clinics, lessons, and retreats, riders gain the necessary tools to overcome obstacles on and off the trail. I love cultivating the magic moments.

💫What you can expect:

Meaningful program offerings that align with our guiding values : confidence, community and connection; behind-the-scenes peeks at our process; Transformative trail tips; THE BEST coaches and mentors in the business; and, of course, LOTS of snacks and trailside dance parties.

“But why is it called Boneshaker?”

I am asked that question all the time and hear all sorts of hilarious guesses as to its meaning, so I thought it was a good time to share the story behind the name.

I chose the name Boneshaker Adventures in 2015 as an homage to the velocipede, the first pedal-equipped bicycle developed in the 1850s. It was nicknamed the “boneshaker” for the jarring caused by its iron and wood construction. Faster than walking and cheaper and easier to maintain than horses, the boneshaker sparked a revolution in personal independence, created community-building social opportunities, led to redevelopment of roadways, and laid the foundation for bicycle design throughout history. The production of these bicycles transformed the world.

Boneshaker Adventures empowers mountain bikers with the necessary tools to build a solid foundation for all future riding. Just like bike designers built upon and improved elements from the boneshaker of the 19th century, our programs are intentionally designed to build upon successes and reframe perceived limitations. They pave the way for future generations of riders to increase confidence, develop a meaningful connection to the place where they live and ride while surrounded by a supportive community. The influence of the boneshaker ripples through all parts of society, and so does the impact of our programs.

A huge thank you to @chris_browngj at @brown_cycles_gj for making a dream come true to pedal around on a boneshaker during our Art of Biking summer camp in June. Even though I could barely reach the pedals, it was pure magic. ✨

Grateful to attend the @orcgv outdoor industry awards ceremony with amazing friends. Humbled to be nominated alongside so many incredible change-makers. Honored for @boneshakeradventures to be recognized as 2025 Business of the Year. And so happy I wore my dancing boots! Special thanks to @gwynnbarr for being my date for the evening and one of Boneshaker’s first “employees” (even though I could only pay her in donated @hottomatopizza back in 2015). Feeling all the love from this community. Thank you. ❤️ by @boneshakeradventures
