Hi! I’m Christina ☀️ the wild woman, plant communicator, magical balm creator behind Bonhemy. My mission is to make it possible for you to believe in healing again — that healing is accessible and can be found in your own backyard. I want to open your eyes to the magic all around us — the magic that speaks to us through the natural world.

I believe community can bring us out of the darkest times. I believe every living being is entitled to their sovereignty. I believe the land we walk and live on was once cherished and called home by those who truly understood reciprocity, and until we live in communion with this land again, the world will struggle to know peace. I believe in land back, reparations, and an equitable world.

I spent most of my career in non profit journalism and even have a few Mid-America Emmy’s to prove it. I’ve always been curious about the world around me and sharing any knowledge I’m lucky enough to devour. In a sharp (but karmic) turn, I found myself chasing a paycheck and jumping from a creative job I loved to a corporate job that sucked my entire life force out of me. Through this, I learned sometimes we need to break in order to put ourselves back together again — but better and with more purpose.

This is me now. Using my skills of research, dissemination, and business development, coupled with my love for the natural world, and turning it into something that helps to build a better world. Thanks for being here. I’m so excited to see what Bonhemy brings to all of us.

A LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Bonhemy operates on the ancestral homelands of the Osage Nation, the Missouria, and the peoples of the Illiniwek Confederation, including the Cahokia, whose great city once stood just across the Mississippi and whose presence shaped this landscape for centuries before us.

The plants we forage, the soil that feeds them, and the waterways that sustain them carry the memory of those who tended this land long before we arrived. We do not take that lightly.

We offer this acknowledgement not as a conclusion but as an ongoing commitment: to learn the history of this place, to forage with respect and restraint, to give back more than we take, and to support Indigenous sovereignty and land rights in whatever ways we are able.

all I need after a long market day are my balms and a pair of cozy socks.

returning to the body is so crucial if you live an active and busy lifestyle…and in today’s hustle culture, that’s just about everyone who is able. the moments I take without my phone, without any expectations, giving myself a foot rub and lymphatic massage, sipping a hot cup of tea, returning to an old friend who I take for such granted — my body — keeps me sane, and healthy, in a world that demands so much.

It’s witchy season, so let’s talk about it.

I have been called a witch many, many times because I speak to plants and I communicate what they say. I embrace it. And I am quite witchy…I love a good ritual. I believe in magic and folk medicine and the stars. I talk to my tarot deck every day. I use a pendulum for lost objects. But do I call myself a witch? No. Am I against being called a witch? Also no. I just don’t like labels. I don’t vibe with any system that categorizes or is hierarchical in nature.

So call me whatever you want, but I respond best to “magical balm creator” 😉 by @bonhemybalms
