An upcycle/revamp. Loved the crown of this hat. Bottom right is a before pic. Hat some mark to the crown and sides. Managed to remove the crown marks, but just made the ones on the side worse 😬. So plan b. Luckily, and this is very unusual , the hat lining was the same fabric as the hat. Re covered the sides with the lining fabric, but just a bit short. Unpicked the bow and flattened it out to cover the short fall evidence and made a new trim. Put in a new lining. Still not sure if I am 100% happy with the look of the trim, but if you are interested in this pale blue vintage Pillbox hat, with a very unique crown detail, dm for details. Size is around 55cm

A lovely day yesterday at @balaklavaracingclub, for a Ladies Day Lunch. Great food and company, guest speakers Ali Clarke and Claire Lindop, two amazing ladies with inspiring stories. Spent the day with my sister @sam.piltz.7 and @melissabennettgregorace. All wearing Bonnetry hats of course! Sam wears a headband with a combo of vintage peach and lemon flowers, Mel wears Bonnetry Vintage, a peach chiffon “Prudence” hat, given to me by my amazing Milliner friend @oksanacaretti. This one is staying in my collection! I have a Bonnetry Original bandeau, leopard print chiffon fabric, from the op shop, and trimmed with hand made chiffon roses, made by me, from a dyed vintage hat that lost its oomf when it it was dyed and I dismantled it. I then recycled the fabric to make the roses. An array of upcycled and vintage always makes me happy 💛💗💕🍑

I love feathered hats, but sometimes I buy them, and then in hindsight, wonder how on earth I will resurrect them! This was one found by my hat hunter niece @mayajarviss in Melbourne. As she FaceTimed me I was attracted to the green feathers, but when it arrived the red and green combo screamed Christmas 🎄! It was a bit battered with not much definition or support. See before pic. So…… off with the red feathers and on with more green, a vibrant green which toned well with the original green. The inside of the hat was reinforced on the sides to give it definition and the tip, the crown of the hat, was blocked into a nice rounded shape. I think you will agree she is now a stunner! Lovely shades of green on well shaped Pillbox hat. It will be available in a couple of days when I finish my silk lining, dm me if you are interested 💚💚💚💚💚💚

Sometimes my week is not as productive as I would like. Life’s interruptions, which are always welcome💕I have a few custom orders on the bench, not quite complete, and then received this box of beauties, which have made my mind work overtime with the potential! And my studio looks like a hat explosion 😬

Shades of mauve, my fave💅. This vintage ruffled pillbox was a rather ugly blue, the dye pot reinvigorated it! Ruffles are silk chiffon, bow trim is upcycled petersham ribbon, I keep everything, you never know when you might need it 😉

Blue chiffon rosettes. This vintage gal had a former life in a pastel colour, now with a bit of help in the dye pot is Bright 💙. Before pic is shown, this pastel aquamarine blue is very common in vintage hats, especially floral and fabric ones, and I have lots in this colour. So I guess a change is as good as a holiday 🙃
She is available in all her rosette and blueness, dm for details

Another in the vintage beehive styles, in an ivory/cream colour. Feels like it could have some sort of addition? Maybe a favourite Bonnetry Bow to the side, or some veiling or flowers? As it is, it’s covered in a topstitched chiffon fabric wound round the hat itself, with a plain chiffon tip, the top of the hat. It’s available now, dm for details

Another vintage upcycle from the dye pot, green this time. A minty green colour appeared from this effort. Originally a beige ish colour. Made a really cute Toque or Pillbox style of hat, it’s versatile. The fabric is a poly straw which blocked really nicely from its original shape. Bow is to the side in the pic, but you could probably choose to wear it in any way you want. It’s lined beautifully with a silk Dupion lining, which I forgot to photograph 😬. It’s available now, dm for details. Size is 56-57cm

I see Red! The first of the dyed red group. Vintage crocheted cello ribbon straw. Could be worn as a Toque style, or a Pillbox hat. Originally off white, dyed red, trimmed with a red silk bow and head ribbon. Size is 56cm. It’s available now, dm for details
