My book rating system โœฐโœฐโœฐโœฐโœฐ Everyone gives their star ratings differently so here's mine! I've been using GoodReads for many years to track my books. I am pretty generous with my star ratings. If I really enjoyed something, I give it a 4 or 5, though 5-star books usually end up being my absolute favorites. I usually give 2-3s if a lot is missing; it could range from being too slow-paced, predictable, lacking character development, etc. I don't highlight DNFs because I think there's no point in emphasizing an unfinished book, and everyone has their preference. Not bitter at all, super smooth, and not overly sweet but still great for people like me who like sweeter drinks. If I lived closer to a Coach cafeฬ, I would be getting this often. I know it's been a while, but I'm hoping to be back this month fr fr I promise Went to the Stone Bean for the first time and absolutely adored it! It's also super clean and so cozy. I'm definitely coming back even though it's a bit far :) The prices were so reasonable too! I had the Thai boba and it was sooo good 10/10 My friend got Ube boba and he rated it 9/10 My bf had the mango boba and he said he probably wouldn't try it again Also my friend and I split a cinnamon bun and it was AMAZING 10/10. Badal 5/5 โญโญโญโญโญ ๐Ÿ’ญ QOTD: What was your last good fantasy read? Happy munchie monday my dudes! โœจ What an incredible debut! Thank you so much for the ARC :)) I absolutely devoured this plot alongside its exploration of discrimination, abuse of power, systemic corruption and the morally gray. I love Evy, Royen, Celeste and Zafir. This definitely felt unique in its fantasy elements and I was actually surprised that everyone cared for each other despite being rivals in the trials. The trials were really intriguing to read and the premise was so good. There were a bunch of twists that I was not expecting for sure! Truly an incredible job of Yorik and Lawrence consistently pissing me off ๐Ÿ˜ค Also, I haven't read a solid love triangle subplot in a long time (& no spice, yay!), and the fact that for almost the entire book I had no idea who I liked more was astounding. The arc from rivals to allies to yearning is ๐ŸคŒ๐Ÿฝ๐ŸคŒ๐Ÿฝ๐ŸคŒ๐Ÿฝ. This DELIVERS betrayal, one moment after the next. โ€œHere, the knives are hidden behind perfect smiles.โ€ This picks up right where book 1 (Forged in Blood) left off, where this is book 2 of the series and I already need book 3 ๐Ÿ˜‚ go pick up book 1 first, because these are NOT standalones (review of book 1 in my profile!) This was amazing. Dare I say this was better than the 1st book. I was hooked and is one of my favorite reads of the year so far; I'm way too invested into this series and the characters. It does all the great things of simultaneously pissing me off, wrecking me and not being able to put this down. This definitely feels like one of those books where it doesnโ€™t even feel like you are reading. I was SHOOK at the twists that I was not expecting, my jaw DROPPED. I loved the rawness in the storyline here in regards to grief, resilience and the struggle that comes with the non-linear process of healing. Isobel is truly one of the best FMCs that I have come across with her growth considering all the trauma she endured and her internal battles of logic vs emotion. This was way more plot and character driven this time around and there is very minimal spice here compared to the first book. I do have some sketchy moments highlighted for potential foreshadowing of what's to come HMMMMM It was great to have Maeve come back into the storyline, really hoping she becomes part of the Guild in some way. It's absolutely abhorrent how Gideon and Daniel are somehow several steps ahead of the game that they are playing. I need book 3 immediately to see what happens next! BRUH THE ENDING WHAT THE HECK?! Asteria by Rachel Leigh @rachelleigh.author 3.25/5 โญ โญ โญ โœจ ๐Ÿ’ญ What was your last read with several POVs in first person? Thank you so much for the ARC! I have mixed feelings on this one. I love first person several POV books, and each character seems to carry their own special little flaw that ultimately draws a bit of darkness to them. The overall premise is really interesting and it's different to step into a world that is actually broken and on the verge of no longer existing. However, I had a hard time loving the characters until approaching the end of the book. I really loved Conor's POV as she is someone not from their realm but carries so much resilience despite her struggles and was the only character with significant character development (despite the setback on her views of Jaime, which is understandable here). I was immediately pulled into the story, but then I had several waves where I felt like I was losing interest in the story. I had a hard time finishing until closer to the end where things started to pick up again and everyone's stories came together. Also would have been nice to see some more of the fantasy elements (especially Aurora, where you at??) further fleshed out. There were parts of the story building that weren't the easiest to follow, there's a lot coming from different places and something about that could have been executed a bit better. I also wish the characters' stories converged earlier on, I think that's part of why I started to lose interest in parts of the book. The epilogue put me in a chokehold. Such an eerie ending of redemption where I want to know what happens next.
