I truly wish everyone could see this in person because I feel like these pictures don’t capture the full beauty of this gem. Do I know how to speak any other language other than English? No. Did I still buy it even though it’s in another language? Of course! Maybe it’s one of my red flags. There are so many special book editions in other languages on my shelves. I get extreme fomo when I see a special edition so you know I had to get this! JUST LOOK AT THOSE ENDPAPERS. SWOON. Read this. Obsess over it. Devourer it. Spiral with me. Insert feral screech— ROSE IN CHAINS IS OUT! 🥀 I got the chance to listen to the audiobook early (THANK YOU NETGALLEY & the publisher FOREVER) and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DEVOURING THIS RIGHT NOW. This story conveys on every level— strong unbreakable female friendships, resilience in the face of adversity, and a world that refuses to let women wield power and have freedom. This story is truly all-encompassing! Briony Rosewood is the ultimate heroine. She is brilliant, strong willed, and unfairly treated as a woman to let her twin brother Rory have the spotlight since he’s a male. Briony is more strategic and powerful yet she’s pushed to the shadows— until fate intervenes and changes EVERYTHING. Insert the complicated yet total hottie war criminal Toven Hearst. He’s the classic broody, morally grey love interest with repressed feelings, confusing motives and has secrets longer than Santa’s naughty list. The dynamic between the two main characters is so messy, angsty and complex but in all the best ways. Their pasts bleed into their present moments and it delivers the most addicting tension. I’m so glad to know that this is a trilogy because book one is a super slow burn, but it makes me even more excited for book two. (HEY JULIE CAN YOU JUST CALL ME UP AND READ SOME OF THE FIRST FEW CHAPTERS PLEASE?) Overall, Rose in Chains is intense, DEVASTATING, and highly addictive. The author has created something so compelling and original. Pirate Romantasy— SAY LESS. 🏴‍☠️ If you’ve been following me for a while now, you might have picked up on the fact that I love the Crimson Moth and Powerless Series—enough to collect as many editions as I can get my hands on. Now you’re probably wondering why I’m rambling about all this when I posted a picture of my small but mighty Nightweaver collection. I was immediately sold when I read the blurb and the last line said “perfect for fans of Powerless and Heartless Hunter.” This is a YA romantasy with pirates, monsters and some plot twists that’ll have you begging for an ARC of book two because YOU JUST HAVE TO KNOW WHERE THIS STORY IS GOING. Also did I mention that the book has sprayed edges and book two can be preordered right now?! Growing up I was OBSESSED with Pirates of the Caribbean— partially because I already had a crush on Orlando Bloom because of his acting in Lord of the Rings. (Yes I’m a total nerd and own it.) You can tell the author pulled some inspiration from Pirates of the Caribbean which I LOVE because it added charm and nostalgia to the overall story. Yes this is a pirate romantasy but majority of the book is on land so just warning the die hard pirate gals. “HOLLY HELLFUCK.” (I apologize to my young followers but I’m a sailor at heart & IYKYK) In my bio I mention that I’m a book devourer and lately I’ve not felt like reading— thank you depression. BUUUUUT I finally felt like my old self when reading this book because I devoured every. single. page in a super speed mach 10 type of way. You guys HAVE to know what I mean by that. Like when you’re reading a book and get the “this is so good, I can’t stop” feeling. I’m beyond pumped to see where @authordanifrancis leads us next. (I will gladly provide my email and address to you @authordanifrancis & @delreybooks if you wanted to send me an ARC of the second book when the time comes around. Totally not begging. Hahahaha not kidding though pweeeety please message my agent (a.k.a. ME.) I totally suggest going into this blind. It’s a damn delightful dystopian time. Reporting live from the war I constructed in my own head. I turned up the self care dial lately so that’s why I’ve been MIA. It’s May and that means it’s Mental Health awareness month. It’s not just some month that we need to normalize speaking about our mental health. We should speak about it EVERY SINGLE DAY! I used to put my mental health on the back burner and wear a smile on my face for people and mask my true feelings because it’s easier pretending to be happy than to face the reality of your emotions and feelings. I’d post more often because that’s what happy people do.. right? For the last month I decided to take a step back from my personal and bookstagram socials so I could put myself first. I was only going to share this on my personal social media but you guys are my second home. The last year I’ve been struggling so much and especially the last four months being on multiple new medications and trying to figure out what dosage and pills are meant for me. I’ve been diagnosed for not only ADHD but MDD (major depression disorder), anxiety and PTSD. The side effects of the pills I’ve been taking have been a lot to deal with so if I’ve been not responding to messages it’s because I’ve been struggling inside my own mind. I thought it would be important to talk about my struggles because mental health matters. Talking about it helps people who are struggling seek help, and find ways to cope and heal. The more we empower each other to speak about our mental health the better the world will be. I want everyone reading this to know you are not alone. You’re not invisible. You’re not stuck. You’re struggling but you won’t sink. Mental Health isn’t some battle to be won. It’s a journey to continue walking. You’re allowed to have bad mental health days. It doesn’t mean your failing or that your progress wasn’t real. It means a lot is going on and you need a break. Emotions make us human and I’m done being someone who pretends to be happy 24/7. It’s ok to not be ok. So here’s to coming back to bookstagram after finding a little peace in the chaos of my life. I’m learning everyday new ways to cope and move forward. HAPPY PUB DAY TO YOUR NEXT OBSESSION. (YES IM TALKING TO YOU! 🫵🏼) “I thought you did not care what I thought.” “I would give anything not to care.” First, I’d like to thank @author_julie and @berkleypub, and @acebookspub for the beautiful PR package and advanced early copy of this 5 star book! Alright, alright, alright—let’s get to the review. Growing up I loved Avatar: The Last Airbender and if you liked that show, you’d probably like this book! It has similar elements but make it fae! 👀 This is THE romantasy book to look out for in 2025. I wasn’t wrong about Heartless Hunter last year, and I assure you I’m not wrong when I say that this masterpiece is this years next hit. You truly don’t get a breather when you start this book because it consumes you from page one. The writing style is so beautiful and the way Julie has a way with words keeps you from setting it down. The world building in this book is perhaps the best execution of world building I’ve ever seen done. It’s not all these words that just feel like a massive info dump. It flows perfectly. There is insanely vivid imagery that really just makes you feel like you’re there alongside the characters. I can confidently say this is the most beautiful writing I’ve seen any author do. Can I have a new top favorite author after one book? HECK YES I CAN. The yearning and pining in this book— I’ll just stamp it with my HOZIER level of pining stamp and die happily because I have no qualms. I’m left satisfied. Im super sated. I’m only mad that I can’t binge read book two yet but patience is a virtue and Julie deserves a break and some celebrating because she really did that. SNAPS Julie. SNAPS. 🫰✨ NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER—unless it’s this one. HOLY HECK the design is captivating and this needs to be front and center on every bookshelf! I started this last night and I’m only about little over 100 pages into it but it already has me by a chokehold. The prose is beautiful. CRIMSON MOTH STACK 🥀 The Crimson Moth series is the epitome of escapism. If you’re searching for a duology that gives you that five star feeling, look no further. I’m telling you—it’ll have you turning pages faster than you can blink! All I ever want in my romantasy books is Hozier level pining & yearning and @kristenciccarelli delivered just that. Overall this is just fantasy at its finest. Please excuse my biggest red flag—my obsession with collecting every edition under the sun. I’m still on a perilous adventure to track down a few missing editions ( DISO of The Polish edition with purple sprayed edges, the Portugal sprayed paperback of crimson moth & the Russian edition with sprayed edges). & don’t get me started on trying to find an ARC of either of these books. I’m✨MANIFESTING✨ that maybe one day I’ll luckily stumble across one in a free little library. “For those who crave a violent love story.” I didn’t know dark military romance was going to be my next fixation but thanks to @k.m.moronova here we are. This book was incredible. After reading this I actually felt hungover. I couldn’t just move on to the next read. If I could use one word to compare this to other dark romance books it would be UNPARALLELED. Before going in blind—I HIGHLY recommend to check the trigger warnings (throughly)! If you’re a dark romance girly—you’re going to eat this one up! 🥀 Dark Military Romance 🥀 Enemies to Lovers 🥀 Bully Romance 🥀 K!nk I’m broken. I MUST be broken because everyone said he was so mean. Why did I think the MMC was so sweet?!?! This book will have you BLUSHING. The FMC is an unhinged psycho in the underground military—not normal military but an underground privately owned military. She is the lone surviving solider from the Riot Squad since the last mission went terribly wrong. She gets moved to a new squad where her new partner is someone EVERYONE is scared of but before she starts, she decides to have one night of freedom. And she has a one night stand. 👀 I don’t want to give away anymore but trust me—if you love dark romance this is top shelf dark romance and you’ll devour it. It was so toxic but did it stop me reading? NO. I don’t know about you guys but it’s the books that break my heart and make me work so hard for my happy ending that REALLY stay with me. This book hurt me in the best way. FUN FACT 🐰➕🦴 K.M. Moronova draws her own character art. That cover is all her! How insanely cool is that?!?! She truly brings the characters to life. I have a lot of favorite authors because I love many genres but I think it’s safe to say that K.M. Moronova is my absolute favorite dark romance writer. I LOVED her book The Fabric of Our Souls but Leave Me Behind tops that! If you’re into collecting books—I highly suggest getting the OOP Leave Me Behind before a publisher picks her up!!
