Everything I read in August: stack, flatlay, and ebook cover images + some kitty pics. The cat family harmony is going swimmingly. Fiona has accepted her brothers. They'll still get hissed at if they touch her tail or pounce on her but otherwise she's fine with them. Yippee for 3 kitties who get along well!

Quickly dropping in to share yesterday's library sale purchases. I could have easily bought more, particularly from the history section but one bag is my limit. by @bookfoolery

July reads, stack and flatlay, plus a million kitty pics because Sir Percy and Mr. Pippin are dominating my life, now. Fiona has continued to tolerate them. I think I left her out of the photo carousel but I do have a few photos of her with the boys as they're interacting more. She's so sweet. They all are, really. Mini reviews can be found at my blog (link in profile). I liked or loved everything, as usual, but found A Well-Trained Wife a painful/difficult read.

Ohmygosh, what a month. My reading suffered due to the new arrivals (kittens) but I read some good books. They were all brain light but I particularly loved the Tripods series and the 3rd Emma M. Lion book.

We went on a long weekend trip and when we returned, we got a buddy for little Sir Percy of Marmalade, Pippin.

Photos:

1. June stack
2. June flatlay with Sir Percy
3. Pippin
4. Percy
5. Fiona + fishy mouse (everything is a "mouse")
6. Pippin trying to wrestle with sleepy Percy
7. Percy monkey on top of the cage, Pippin's safe space
8. Pippin stretch
9. Percy stretch

It's all cats, all the time in our house. Chaos rules but we're having loads of fun and hopefully it will eventually calm to the point that I can spend more time reading. by @bookfoolery

It's my bloggiversary! 20 years. Whoa. I posted to the blog to acknowledge this day and all it means to me (link in bio if you're interested). Like IG, I usually only post monthly but I like to keep the blog going to record my thoughts. I will always miss the camaraderie of the early days but things change in two decades! There's no escaping it.

The second photo was taken this morning. We limit Fiona's exposure to little Sir Percy but she tolerates him well as long as he's not pouncing on her tail. He'll learn his place. It's good progress only 3 1/2 weeks after bringing the little guy into our house. by @bookfoolery

Happy June! It is way too hot, already.

My month was a surprising one as we were not planning to add to our family but then a cat gave birth to 3 kittens in a wedge where the fences meet behind our backyard. Neighbors adopted 2 and when Mama Cat didn't show up for 24 hours, we took in the 3rd, now 8 weeks old and growing like a weed. He will need a buddy in a couple months; our old girl Fiona is not interested in making a new friend.

Photos!

1. Everything I read in May, stack
2. Everything I read in May, flatlay
3. The new kid, Sir Percy of Marmalade (or just Percy)
4. After 2 weeks, he's met Fiona and she told him to go away (hissed) but has not smacked him, so that's positive.
5. Fiona, now 16 1/2 and she just wants some peace.

I have to say, he's an energetic little rascal and a lot of work but we both appreciate the laughter Percy has brought back to our house. I was especially grieving Isabel hard and he's been a great distraction.

My April in a nutshell:

1. Books read (stack)
2. Books read (flatlay)
3. & 4. A couple garden photos. Everything is loving the recent rain.
5. My favorite book cover of the month.
6. A favorite photo of Fiona kitty.

Absolute favorite books read were Clear and Starfish but I liked or loved everything I finished, as usual. I had one DNF and after two alien invasion books (The Last 8 and Childhood's End), I'm in a mood for more.

March reads and stuff!

1. March paper books read
2. Flatlay
3, 4, and 5. Ebooks read
6, 7, and 8. Some favorite photos of Fiona

I enjoyed my reading immensely, this month. Brief descriptions are available at my blog (link in profile) but I liked or loved everything with one exception: The Flowers' Festival by Elsa Beskow (one of the boxed set of children's books on top of the stack and at bottom in the flatlay). Children of the Forest and Pelle's New Suit were my favorites from that set.

Absolute top favorite was The Road to Tender Hearts but I gave a lot of high ratings, this month.

Happy April and Easter wishes to those who celebrate!

February in a nutshell:

1. Flatlay of everything I read
2. Stack photo
3. My favorite orange from a 3-day pastels course I took.
4. & 5. The moon yesterday. I don't know if I'll be able to wake up early enough for the eclipse but I will try.

I liked or loved everything I read except for the book of poetry by Robert Pinsky, which was just not for me. Mini reviews can be read at my blog, link in bio.

Everything I read in January, stack and flatlay. Lots of poetry and a full set of Thich Nhat Hanh books that my husband gave me for Christmas, a couple middle grade books, three older titles (1930s to 1970s) including one translated from the Japanese, one novella, a book about bravery, and a memoir. I enjoyed them all!

We're still getting used to being a one-cat family. Fiona kitty has adjusted but I hate a house without Isabel. She was my best buddy during a baker's dozen of husband's traveling years and it's just too quiet without her. She was such a chatty, joyful presence (and demanding but I liked that).

The last couple of photos are from our winter storm. We were fortunate and only got a little of the ice predicted. Our niece at Ole Miss shivered in an apartment with no electricity for 2 days before braving the dangerous drive to our house (normally a 2.5 hour drive, it took her 5 hours). Her water was turned off and the highway shut down shortly after, so she was lucky to get out. We enjoyed having her stay for a week. Oxford is doing a fantastic job of cleaning up from a major storm but it was a new experience for her.

January was traumatic for Americans so I know we are all hoping this month will be an improvement. Sending love and a big hug to all my fellow Americans who need it.

Everything I read in December, 2025. I made some mistakes, re-photographing a couple books in the stack photos, which were taken a couple weeks apart, but I think both flatlays are accurate. The last photo is of #fionakitty in her new Asian shop. We had to replace all of the cat houses after her sister died because she apparently associated them with Isabel and not only wouldn't go in them but also seemed upset by their presence. She's doing better, now.

If you're interested in reading my list of everything I read in 2025, my December wrap-up with mini reviews, or my not-doing-reading-goals post, you can get to my blog via the link in my bio.

I've decided to continue only doing reviews at the blog, wrap-up style at the end of the month, and stack/flatlays here, for now. I'm not much of an Instagrammer since I realized I was seeing as many as 6 ads for every 2 friends' posts and finding review posts exhausting.

Happy New Reading Year to all!
