A Vision for our Future

On behalf of the Bookie’s family, let me begin by thanking everyone for the outpouring of love and support in the wake of Rich’s passing. We have some big shoes to fill.

We felt it was important to make the statement that Bookie’s is not going anywhere. We may have to bring in a few new faces and reorganize some things, but we are dedicated to providing diverse new and used books and being a participant in this community and beyond.

We have had to postpone some September events and book fairs. We need to recreate Rich’s procedures, innovate new ones, and secure new transportation and staff to deliver the high standard of events, book fairs, and customer service that we are known for.

After meeting with staff, we have come to the decision to shift our open hours for the time being.

Our new hours, starting Monday, September 14th, will be Monday-Saturday 10am-5pm and Sunday from 12pm-4pm.

Thank you for your patience as we adjust and work toward our new normal.

It is with profound sadness to share that this past Friday, our Manager, Rich, the backbone of our store, was in a fatal car accident.

The Bookie’s family is together in grief with Rich’s wife and children. We are all in a state of shock. Rich did the work of ten people and it is difficult to figure out our after. Memorials are being planned for a later date. A longer and more fitting tribute from us will be forthcoming.

In the meantime, you are welcome to come to the store and sign a memory book that will be given to his family.

Please be patient with us as we navigate this terrible tragedy.
