It’s been a while, and I’ve made so many new bookstagram friends—so it’s time for a little get to know me post!

I started this Bookstagram to share my love of reading and connect with fellow bookworms. Fun fact: I hate conflict in real life but love debating books—so please, hit me with your unpopular opinions! 🤣😅

Now it’s your turn! Drop a fun fact about yourself or let me know what we have in common. Let’s be bookish friends! 💕👇

SWIPE FOR RATING SYSTEM⭐️💫
Welcome to my virtual bookshelf tour! I’m more of a Kindle girl ATM and so I made a little drawing for you all and put a handful of my favorites on it 🫶🏻 There is also my pothos plant (it’s the only one I can keep alive!) and my dad’s glasses. My dad passed way in 2013 from cancer but his glasses were ubiquitous. I don’t wear glasses myself anymore because I got Lasik. 🤓

As for the ratings, this system keeps me consistent. I mostly give 4s, sprinkle in a good few 4.5s, and occasionally give 5s/3s. I rarely give lower than 3 stars -but it happens! What do you find yourself rating books most often?

Hi Friends 👋 As some of you know, I have been writing alongside my reading for awhile now. I started a Substack back in May where I post weekly. I am working on a variety of writing projects alongside this. If you like short form essays delivered to your inbox, just want to check it out, or feel like supporting a fellow reader and writer prepublication please check out and subscribe to my Substack. 🩷 I put the link in my bio. by @bookishlyvee

The summer books didn’t hit like I wanted them to. Was not a Yesteryear fan, My Friends was not my fave Backman, The Deal was fun but I was not in the mood to binge the series. I did read 4 memoirs 👀 my favorites above. 👆 I loved the new Spiderman movie and The Other Bennet Sister 😍

Grateful for all the memories we made, and all of the firsts: first time writing a book, first time roller skating as an adult, first time to portugal, and first time trying to accept and be myself wholeheartedly.

Bye Summer 🩷 You will be missed this year.

Last month I finished Yesteryear and I seriously need to put up a post about it because wtf was that?! July was my best reading month in a while… I am not a fast reader but I read every day. I’ve been writing too which slows me down, but has given me a new appreciation for books. I want to read everything!! What was your favorite book of July?? #booksta by @bookishlyvee

I am a fan of rolling green hills, medieval towns, and freshly caught oysters.

Also enjoyed: Splinters by Leslie Jamison, Theo of Golden by Allen Levi, Spider Noir and Project Hail Mary. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ by @bookishlyvee

I wish I could read faster these days… there are so many books to read!! I went to Portugal for a wedding, had to get my gallbladder removed during my Off Campus binge, and started a substack account. I’m writing articles about some of the topics in my book, like identity, capacity, and feeling alive in your ordinary life. I have the link in my bio if you want to check it out. I post new articles every Monday!

I’m 60% through my 4 currently reading books. Have you read any of these? Love to hear your thoughts. 💭

another fun trend but make it painfully accurate:

i’m the loyal hobbit who never asked for the journey but goes anyway
the introspective, slightly broken teenage girl narrating everything in her head
the dry-witted, untrusting government employee
the guy literally stuck in purgatory because he can’t stop overthinking
the well-meaning, socially awkward HR rep with no friends
the resourceful academic out of time trying to fix things with logic and love
the mom who will fight a demogorgon for her babies—even if all she has is a broken wine bottle (iconic)
and somehow… still just the girl who loves learning, loves her friends, and tries to do the right thing

I have a theory:
That feeling isn’t random.
It’s usually a place where your system isn’t working overtime-where you’re not editing, performing, or holding tension you don’t need to.
And once you start to notice that feeling,
you start to understand what
“home” actually is for you.
Not just a place.
A set of conditions.
Where do you feel most like yourself? #bookstagram #identitywork #nervoussystemhealing by @bookishlyvee
