🌴 BOOK REVIEW 🌴
Lucy is a very confident, sexy protagonist who, as someone puts it towards the end of the book, has put a lot of work in her 20s into really figuring out who she is and how she wants to move through the world, what she wants to accomplish, etc. So she’s really fun to read from as someone who is so ready and driven for life.

I really enjoyed the subversion of the romance genre protagonists by having both of them genuinely content with the idea of going through life without a life partner and aren’t actively trying to find that, until the right person makes them want that companionship more than the solitude that they are very comfortable with. This book will really give you a lot to think about!

Lucy and Marsh together I LOVED and it was so satisfying seeing the ways that both of them changed over the course of the book and grew into themselves even more by the end, and grew together so beautifully. #SRC2026 #TheBookOdyssey taken in BOOKSTA by @bookrecsplease

🍃Life update🍃I just got my first job post children, which also happens to be my first grown up job post-university since I had my first daughter right before graduating haha! This is exactly what I’ve been hoping for - I’m now an elementary school music teacher! It’s been sooo much fun so far and all the other teachers and staff have been incredible in helping me get started! I’m loving this new life chapter!! taken in BOOKSTA by @bookrecsplease

Book review time!
Recently retired librarian Neeti is living with her niece and great-nephew among a quirky group of neighbors, including a really darling friend couple, when a neighbor falls to his death, leaving a couple of very intriguing clues that it was homicide.
Neeti is such a fun protagonist to be in the mind of! She’s quick-witted, inquisitive, and really values all of her connections with the people around her. If you enjoy cozy mysteries, deep dives into myriad Indian diaspora stories, and feel-good friendships, well-laid clues and mystery elements, you’ll love this mystery!

Read this if you enjoy romantic thrillers, whodunnit mysteries, some light family drama, and a lot of humor!
Ella Takeda is a true crime podcaster who just got fired for falsely accusing an innocent person of being the active serial killer in Chicago. She returns home to her small town to figure out her next steps with her family, but the serial killer has followed her there and seems to be one of the three men she’s having romantic tension with!
I loved this book so much and finished it in less than 24 hours 😅 It was such a fun ride and an awesome mystery!
Fast-paced plot • romantic thrillers • fast reads • summer books

WANT A TRULY MORALLY GREY PROTAGONIST?
And an incredible, swashbuckling adventure with unexpected twists and turns through a gorgeous fantasy world?
If so, you need to read this book (first of a duology)! It reads fast and fun with tremendous prose and romantic undertones and is so addictive!

I loved the pretty big passage of time that the book had, with her maturing and changing and still not fully understanding exactly what she wants out of life/how to get it, but driven by some core principles that stay true - it all just felt so relatable to my early adulthood and was put into such a fun setting. I just loved seeing her evolution as a person and finding her place in the world that hasn’t given her a lot of options, and balancing free will vs survival vs ethical ideas vs harsh reality, and all the moral quandaries of the situations she was put in. It was all just so amazing to read and I couldn’t put it down!!

And I really loved what we learned of the mythology of the world, too! I can’t wait to get into even more of it in book 2 next year!
