🚨Upcoming author event with @phoebewahl!

We are so excited to host Phoebe for a special reading of her newest book Story Rug. She’ll also be reading from Little Witch Hazel, a beloved favorite round these parts.

Phoebe Wahl is a local children’s book author and illustrator, as well as the creator of many magical things. If you’re not familiar with her books, Little Witch Hazel is a great start, although we also love Sonya’s Chickens and Backyard Fairies. Whether she’s already a favorite in your house or new to you, we hope to see you Oct 24 for this special story time!

We will soon be saying goodbye to our first artist, @kariejane7, and welcoming in our next, @sayjaydays! Join us this Saturday for the opening reception of Sara Jacobson’s show. Sara is a local Edison artist and wonderful friend of the shop. She’ll be sharing a collection of over 20 years of her work. From 4-6 we’ll have drinks and music, @telekinesis will be DJing! 👀 The rumors are true: @kariejane7’s show Affirmations for the Hard to Convince sold out before the opening reception ended. And it’s true the new pieces she added earlier this month also sold right away BUT you have until Sept 30 to see it, feel it, embody it before it all gets packed up and sent into the world.

Karie Jane is an Edison treasure and I’m so happy to know her and have her as our neighbor. What an honor to get to show her work here at Book Shucker. I bought my first KJ piece back in maybe 2009 before I ever even knew her, and I’ve been buying her art ever since.

What I love about her current show is that everyone can easily spot the piece that speaks them. We bought “I can but I don’t have to,” which as a business owner, and a mom, and, and… well it’s an aphorism I knew I needed on my wall.

I will miss being in our space with KJ’s art ❤️ but I’m excited for all the art shows we’ve got planned and to one day welcome her back 🤞 taken in Edison, Washington by @bookshucker

Join us this Saturday at 11 for story time at Book Shucker! Very excited to be sharing a book by @tomgauld, one of our favorite comics artists ❤️ The Little Wooden Robot and the Log Princess is a favorite of ours at home.

OMG, I don’t even know where to start. Thank you to everyone who came to our grand opening on Saturday! It was far beyond what we expected for the day, our hearts are so full ❤️
