🐈‍⬛👒📻🧹Witchy Wednesday- Kiki’s Delivery Service🧹📻👒🐈‍⬛

✨QOTD: When books get film/TV adaptations do you prefer to read the book first or watch the film first? What’s your favourite (or least favourite 😈) book to film/TV adaptation?✨

This beautiful @fairyloot edition of Kiki’s Delivery Service by @eiko.kadono arrived this month and isn’t it STUNNING! I absolutely love the artwork and design on the naked hardcover 💙

This arriving prompted me to both read the book and then watch the Ghibli adaptation for the first time and I enjoyed both (though preferred the book)✨

Sadly I have joint custody of this with my husband and it currently lives on his shelves not mine👀😅

📖💫🌸No thoughts, just pretty books🌸💫📖

✨QOTD: Tell me which books were among your first special edition purchases? Or if you don’t collect special editions, which books in your collection are your absolute prized possessions?✨

One of my first big special edition purchases was the absolutely gorgeous Illumicrate Bridgerton set. This is a real ‘make sure the door’s locked at night so book lovers don’t try and steal it’ set and forever one of my prized possessions 🌷💎🫖✍🏻✨

I’ve read all the Bridgerton books and love them but I actually love Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton Prequel series, The Rokesbys, more🤭 (Sooooo if @illumicrate want to do a matching set for Billie & co. I am GAME👀) If you’ve read the Bridgerton books but not the Rokesbys I absolutely recommend you pick them up ASAP!🥰

🪻💜🍷Hello Purple Era🍷💜🪻

I have had THE BEST bookmail arrive this week from the absolute angel that is Stevie at @house.of.ya 💜✨Thank you so much for allowing me to read this book early, and for every single proof in this stack💜

If you’ve been following me a while you’ll know I’m a huge fan of @chaosonolympus ‘s greek myth retellings - i’ve followed Bea through the pink, blue and green eras and now it’s time for purple to shine💜 Ariadne & Dionysus, I am so ready for you!🍷

I also just need to take a minute to scream about the candle by @aroma_meliss in this PR box (to the left of the stack- yes that is a CANDLE!) because it is INSANE!

Apologies, this song is all I can think of whenever I think of Dionysus so i’m probably going to use it a bunch of times😂

✨QOTD: Do you have a favourite myth or legend?✨

✨🌌Three for Thursday🌌✨

Isn’t the colour palette for The Last Starborn Seer by @venetiaconstantine just absolutely divine?💜💙

TLSS is an ethereal romantasy with epic fantasy esque world building and an exciting quest arc that I enjoyed. I had a lot of fun theorising about how the plot would twist and turn and I’m looking forward to seeing where the series goes next- I’d especially love to hear Blayze’s POV🤭🧡

Venetia is such a lovely human and I was lucky enough to be part of the street team for TLSS which was such a wonderful experience to be a part of, along with some other incredible creators 💜

Here are the three editions of TLSS on my shelves: the Waterstones Exclusive, the street team proof and the fairyloot exclusive and they are all so pretty✨🌌

✨QOTD: Recommend me a purple book🤭💜✨

Ladies and Gentlemen… ✨her✨

Just LOOK at this amazing PR box for Hopeless Necromantic by @shiloh.briar !! The D20! The Incense! The Art Prints! PERFECTION🩷💚💀

This book was such a delight, you can see my full review further down my grid but it’s a fun and darkly humorous fantasy with found family and one of the best side characters EVER (Benjamin the man that you are💀🩷)

The biggest thanks to the lovely @_kayleaux at @orbitbooks_us for sending me this incredible package- you are an angel🩷💚

I can’t wait to use the stickers in a reading journal spread -I’ve been enjoying using stickers and temporary tattoos that i receive as part of bookmail for that books spread because it helps stop me having decision paralysis over what to do with them (which always ends in me not using them at all💀)

⛸️🏒✨Wellsy Wednesday✨🏒⛸️

✨QOTD: Do you have a favourite (or least favourite 😈) book to tv/film adaptation?✨

Hands up if you’re still on the Off Campus hype🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️

I’ll admit i’ve only read The Deal from the book series but watching the show has made me want to read the others and I think a reread is in order after the wonderful @paperback_katy & @rachelquinmarketing sent me the tv tie in edition and some themed goodies🤭 (the popcorn is the perfect excuse for a third rewatch right🤪)

The Deal is a New Adult Hockey Romance with fake dating & friends to lovers💙

PSA Maiden releases tomorrow and if you love lady knights, multiple povs and female rage then you need to read it ❤️⚔️

As a standalone set in the same medieval-esque fantasy world as the author’s previous book, Spellbound, Maiden is a beautifully written and empowering tale of resilience, sisterhood and female rage that pulled me in and had me thoroughly hooked throughout.

Told through the eyes of three women, Cressyda (the princess), Alinore (an aspiring Lady Knight) and Maylie (a forest-dwelling healer) at the centre of the book is the kingdom of Calestra’s annual Maiden sarcifice festival, an ancient but barbaric tradition that promises protection in exchange for a maiden being sent to the dragon.

Maiden explores what it is to be a woman, to have loved and lost, to be wanted and unwanted, to be a daughter, a mother, a sister, a friend and above all to be something other. Something outside of the constraints of what both the fictional society within the book and the real world expects a woman to be. Both the title and the three povs had me thinking immediately of the Maiden, Mother, Crone archetypes but rather than fitting nearly into these moulds, the characters were written to cross the boundaries of them, again subverting expectations. I found myself completely enveloped in the world and story, invested in all 3 of the FMC’s and finding the book as a whole to be emotional and enchanting.

If you swipe through the carousel you’ll see i’ve taken part in the #Maidenvisionboard ‘challenge’ and have created a mood/aesthetic board for each of the three FMC’s (because I couldn’t pick just one🤭😅) I really enjoyed this book and I feel so lucky to have been sent a proof copy by @bantambooksuk so a big thank you to @what_emreadnext and @georgialeightonauthor ❤️⚔️

4.5⭐️

✨QOTD: What upcoming sequel are you excited for?✨

Just a little TIUTFFYE appreciation post ft the corner of my shelf dedicated to Aurienne, Osric and using a fork as a weapon🩷🗡️ I absolutely loved this book, the banter was perfection, I laughed so much and it just brought me so mych joy - I cannot wait to read The Exquisite Torment of Loving Your Enemy (I need that slow burn to ignite🤭) 💀💜

I keep contemplating adding the Owlcrate Edition to my collection but I’m already wondering how I’m going to make space for the multiple editions of TETOLYE I have preordered and the corresponding purple ✨decor✨I’ll need 😂

Book in Emojis:💀🗡️😈🧙🏻‍♂️🧟‍♂️🩷

Review: You wouldn’t think a book dealing in necromancy, demons & the undead could be cosy & yet Hopeless Necromantic gave me the same cosy but still somewhat gruesome mid/high stakes fantasy vibes as the Tomes & Tea/ Saint of Steel series’ while still feeling unique . As a D&D player, I also felt like this could have easily been part of our campaign (Helspira reminded me of one of our PC’s)which was fun!

This book came at the perfect time- i’d been in a slump following a period of burnout & it was the easy to read, lighthearted, hopeful & wholesome book I needed (as much as something with so much talk of decaying flesh & death can be😂). The sense of found family was lovely, I really liked the two main characters & how they developed to overcome their (literal & metaphorical) demons. The slow burn, blossoming romance was really sweet but my favourite character was Ben, the sentient skeleton sidekick who was just hilarious & totally loveable.

If you want a dark humour rom com that still somehow gives you a warm fuzzy hug feeling, in a d&d esque fantasy setting then this is the book for you🩷💚

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you @orbitbooks_uk for the proof🥰

💀⚔️Synopsis⚔️💀

Four years ago, Sikras ‘Catseye’ Nikabod had it all: a beautiful wife, friends and family, and the endless luxuries that came with being the all-powertul necromancer to the queen. Now, his brother-in-law is a walking corpse, he’s wanted for tax evasion, his oldest friend, Vessik, has slaughtered thousands of the queen’s people with a skeleton army, and his wife is dead. Sort of. With the kingdom under threat, it’s only natural for the queen to task Sikras with the totally normal, not-at-all-cruel chore of brutally murdering his dearest friend. Sure. Great. It’s not like he already failed to stop Vessik’s reign of terror twice or anything. Turns out, it’s hard to kill a monster when you can’t stop remembering the good man he used to be. Harder still when you’re pretty sure his descent into madness is kind of, sort of, hypothetically...all your fault. Raise a glass. Raise the dead. Just don’t raise your hopes.

✨QOTD: What was your last 5⭐️ read?✨

I recently received a proof of Shadow Reaper by @lynettenoni ( big thanks to @ninacdouglas and @penguinplatform ) and was totally blown away! It’s a dark YA fantasy, pitched as Shadow and Bone meets Vampire Diaries (without Vampires but with life force sucking reapers) but it also reminded me of The Dagger and the Flame⚔️

Shadow Reaper was fast paced, with an interesting world and had me immediately hooked. There was so much to love about this: the magic system, the mystery, the cast of loveable side characters, the sense of found family, the banter and the romance. I really enjoyed that some elements of the plot I could piece together and guess but others took me by surprise and had my jaw dropping …. like THAT ENDING!!!! (I need to know what happens next- book 2 can’t come quick enough!)

I really liked both Viri and Reeve as MC’s but my favourite character? Jonas (and of course his separation anxiety suffering bunny Walnut) who must be protected at all costs🥹

This was my first book by Lynette Noni (although I’ve heard good things about The Prison Healer) and this has definitely made me want to read more! If this isn’t on your TBR you really need to pop it on there like NOW😍
