Happy birthday lady @kennedyryan1
We see you, we appreciate you and we celebrate you! This genre would not be the same without your voice!!🥳🎊🥳🎊🥳🎊
*
*
*
After reading Queen Move which was my first book by @kennedyrayn1 it was game over. The romance bar went really high! I didn't need to be convinced otherwise of the journey that is evident in every story she births! From the Bennetts to Before I Let Go! It's a journey! The best part of all her reads is that she always, absolutely always lands you safely! ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿
***********************************
If you have read any of these you cannot deny those memorable characters you have met and the stories that are still with you today! If not....its never too late to get started! 🙌🏿 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Happy Saturday Bookies! 📚🎊I CAN ALWAYS GET LOST IN A BOOKSTORE!🎊📚
*
*
The bookstore is one of those places you cannot rush me. I mean seriously, if you are in a hurry, go on without me. 😂🤣😂🤣
*
*
I need time to browse, even if I am not looking for anything in particular.😂🙌🏿
*
*
These days, because of my ridiculous TBR and books I own already or that are coming in daily from the library my visits to most stores when I encounter them is to look for old favourites and authors I love. I am checking to see whether they are on the shelves! Of course when I don't see them....I judge the store...just saying! 😂🤣😂
***************************
Anywhos, I hope you had an awesome week. Here's to the weekend. 🙌🏿❤️

Happy Monday! 📚📚New week, New Book!📚📚
*
*
📚 Hitting A Straight Lick with a Crooked Stick by Zora Neale Hurston
*
*
A collection of Harlem Renaissance stories!
A timely read given Score by Kennedy Ryan is being released tomorrow!💚💚💚💚💚
*
*
I love the unplanned reading moments! This was unplanned. So is starting a book on a Monday for me. Rolling with the gut punches and reading instincts.🥰
*
*
So far this year I find myself randomly selecting books from my physical bookshelf. Intentionally and unintentionally. I love this for me and it feels good!
*
*
Today, I was looking for a short audiobook to accompany me alongside some chores (lol...yes...its the best time to get some reading in for me). Granted this is not that short of an audiobook (More than 5 hours). Loving the intro so far and the narration is top tier! 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿

📚 In A World of Sunrises by Cleo Wade is LIVE @cleowade
*
I received an early copy of this book from the publisher @simonschusterca and immediately started it! I can't thank them enough for the opportunity to discover Cleo's work.
*
*
I also can't tell you how many quotes and pages are highlighted as I journeyed through what I called a relevant and timely piece of work that offered encouragement, reflection, motivation, reminders and thought provoking moments that I basked in.
This was my first Cleo Wade book and definitely won't be the last one. I am excited to jump into her backlist but will be thinking of and reflecting on all the nourishment this one offered.
*
In the chaos that is our world right now if you are looking for some reminders, self encouragement and care through words, this is the book for you. I hope you will find and even heal a piece of you the moment you start experiencing these pieces.

Loved it! An immediate favourite read for 2026 for me!

Happy Reading!

Blessed rest of the week #staysafe #positive

📚 Where the Wildflowers Grow by Terah Shelton Harris is LIVE @terahsharris

Thanks to Sourcebooks Landmark for providing this e-ARC via NetGalley!
*
You may not see this dress until summer but this book though....wowwwieeeee!!! It's available and it's poignant and it's gripping and it is packed page to page chapter to chapter with a story that was not only worth telling but packed a punch!💋
*
*
A deliberate and intentional read that was immersive and deep with emotions. I loved that I focused on this story alone when I read it and was able to take in all the details of what it offered.
This book was positively captivating. Terah invited us into the raw emotions and reflections of Leandra (Leigh). A convicted felon who miraculously walked away from an accident during a prison transfer.
An unexpected opportunity for a fresh start or was it an intermittent window to catch a brief breath while in nature? I don't believe Leigh could have comprehended the months ahead post-crash how her life would have have bloomed. Literally!

This story is revelatory with deep contemplative reflection, emotions, chemistry, friendship, food, flowers, survival lamentations and healing off the pages. Leigh's story was wrapped in survival but redemptive. Hoping to be invisible but in the end finding love, experiencing healing and reconciling many familia hurts in the process of found family, community, grief and love.

"We are shaped and molded by those who came before us, even if those molds are broken."

It was in reconciling the past and making peace with the present that Leigh changed course and embraced a future she never thought possible.

Terah took us there! From the terrain of nature to the very details of the flower farm's operations this story came alive.

Happy Reading!

📚 The Re-do List by Denise Williams is LIVE @nicwillwrites

Thanks to Berkley @berkleyromance for providing this e-ARC!
*
We know that rewinding is not an option but what about a redo? Taking a chance at something new fuelled and revealed to Willow and Deacon that even after a disaster or traumatic event something new can be birthed.

This story and these characters were chefs kiss! 💋

The idea and storyline was refreshing in that ushering in a new year/season vibes and taking chances kind of way. Willow grew off the pages and Deacon discovered how helping her was also helping him decide what was next for him.
I loved this one page to page. I mean, Denise gave us fun, flirty, bold, angst, swoon and adventure wrapped up in this story. She gave us a diverse set of characters who brought their unique personalities that added to the storyline. The friendships new and old were also a beautiful feature of this story and served to reinforced that sense of community, belonging, acceptance and support we all crave.
*
I loved that this was my first romance of the year and I had an opportunity to read it early. Now that the audiobook is here I will be rereading asap because January and Teddy together will be top tier narration! IYKYK

Happy Reading!

Ps. The Christmas is still up. I needed a re-do 🥰😂🎄

Happy Friday and New Year Bookies📚🌟📚🌟ABOUT THE FIRST BOOK OF THE YEAR & NEW YEAR WISHES!
*
*
📚 Black Women Writers at Work by Claudia Tate
*
*
I am not saying that the first book determines anything special for the new year reading shenanigans but this one was special, relevant and timely for me and the next leg in my academic journey.
*
Through the interviews with each contributor I was treated to daily doses of inspiration, nuggets of wisdom and autobiographical-esque storytelling.
*

*
This was such a powerful piece to have stumbled upon at the end of 2025. To be reading this now in 2026 it felt like such a seminal piece of work. Many of the contributors are no longer with us and their work represents and have influenced so much of what we see in literary spaces and in our societies today. With courage and bold voices these women highlighted and spoke to the challenge inherent in publishing for Black authors and what that meant for their work and audience. Sadly, the struggle and conversation continues today amidst some changes.
There were so many nuggets I took and will hold dearly. I highly recommend it for anyone who loves to read diverse works, who are budding writers, creatives, graduate students and anyone interested in learning more about these icons within our history and present day. Though evocative each contributor was inspiring! The audiobook was phenomenally narrated! *chefs 💋
Happy Reading!
**********************************
To the New Year! My bookish enthusiast's, romance girlies, mood readers and rebels, collectors, hobbyist, new-to-me authors and favourite authors of love, it still is an honor to share this space with everyone of you. Whether 2026 offers answers, more discoveries, new adventures and continued growth I wish only great things for you. 🥂💜🙌🏿🙏🏿
