We are extremely proud to introduce you to our latest release called Brillante Obsidian!🌅

Brillante Obsidian, born from the refined Black style of the Brillante font family, delves into the interplay of dimension and illumination. It offers a gradient of shadows ranging from 0 to 100. This range of styles, including a shadowless font with elegant outlines and colors, as well as four levels of shadows that culminate in a powerful 3D effect, draws inspiration from the volcanic Obsidian stone aesthetics.

It’s sharp serifs will add both visibility and style to any creative direction, and it’s unique ready to use shades will match compatible color palette. Use it with darker colors or way lighter: It will still work it’s magic!

It is ideal for titling and headlines as it will create a great and impacting contrast between headlines and body texts.

Sharing a structural foundation with Brillante Pearl, Brillante Obsidian is oppositely way darker and both versions embody duality. They beautifully contrast and complement each other, weaving a captivating narrative of light and shadow.

An other Alpha font 👀 Minorca is now available!

Minorca unfolds from ExtraLight to Bold in generally slender proportions, drawing inspiration from the atypical engraved capitals spotted along the Mahon port – the hotspot of the Minorcan island.
The M, N, A, V, & W letters are keeping it real with that engraved charm and imperfections.

We’ve added a specific axis of variation to this skeletal framework, just for the serifs – we call it the « Wave » axis.
Why? Because we wanted to give this font a nautical makeover, like it’s riding the waves.

What does it take to bring a typeface from scratch to distribution?

It’s less a straight road than a long journey through an entire industrial chain — building tools, processes, and a workflow of your own. We’ve been designing typefaces for over 10 years. We started with FontLab, moved to Glyphs, then switched to RoboFont. Over time, we’ve learned that, whatever digital tool you use, a pen is still a pen: no software will make a better design than another. That said, preferences naturally evolve with experience, habits, and the specific needs of each project. While drawing remains at the heart of our practice, technology plays an equally important role in bringing a typeface to its highest level of quality and making it work across different environments. For example, we rely on open-source libraries and command-line tools to build and generate our fonts…Here’s a small, non-exhaustive glimpse into what happens behind the scenes, and a rough outline of the process below:

• Concept & brainstorming
• Hand-drawn sketches
• Initial alphabet drafts
• Family development
• Variable axis exploration
• Fine-tuning
• Proofing
• Font development
• Design decisions & reviews
• Stylistic sets definition
• OpenType features
• Text proofing
• Quality assurance
• Font information & metadata
• Kerning
• Spacing review
• Character proofing
• Mastering
• Designspace setup
• Font generation
• Testing & trials
• Gathering references & sources
• Graphic design conception
• Font description
• Web type tester content
• Website backend & uploads
• Communication

And that’s only part of it. A typeface may start with a sketch, but getting it ready for distribution means navigating a whole ecosystem of design, development, testing, tools, and communication. The drawing is just the beginning… by @bordeausolenn

Discover Emperia !

It all started from a simple question. “What would Trajan lowercase look like?” As Latin is a bicameral script that combines different letterforms, contemporary typefaces mainly relies on compromising the monumental structure of uppercase in the design process. However, Emperia takes a counterintuitive approach. It is a historical reinterpretation of the Antique genre. Rather than a revival, it is a calligraphic fiction of history, where the construction of the minuscule is grounded in the principles of Roman capitals. With the brush as its underlying tool, the typeface family strives to establish a closer relationship between uppercase and lowercase alphabets. By reuniting these two models in harmony, it successfully rewrites history from a fresh perspective ! by @bordeausolenn

📡 Introducing you to our latest release: Numero.02! 🤩
Designed by @bordeausolenn , Numero.02 draws inspiration from the historic Gothic №2 typeface by the Keystone Type Foundry (1888-1917).
This type family pays homage to the origins of the « Gothic » appellation, a term historically used in the 19th century to describe sans serif typefaces. In contrast to the ornate and classical serifed typefaces of the time, these « Gothic » fonts were seen as bold, utilitarian, and modern—a departure from the past. The term came to represent a certain straightforward, no-nonsense aesthetic that was both functional and striking.
