*BOREHEAD*

Back at our Homegrown Alldayer 2026 we were delighted to welcome back London based instrumental doom/sludge act @borehead to our stages after a few years since we last had the pleasure of rocking out with them at CW.

Right. So much to say. First off, these guys are very much a community focused band. They are all regulars at heavy shows of all stripes across London and their love of the riff ifs pure, genuine, and totally sincere. Mike in particular is a true devotee of riffs and tone, as I’ve said before I’m sure, and Borehead have been a mainstay around the London heavy scene for quite a few years now.

Knowing this, and how hard they’ve been working - when they stepped onstage at Homegrown they were absolutely in their element in front of a friendly home crowd. As a band they were in imperious form - holding court with riffs deep as the ocean and wide as the open desert. They are masters (and I don’t use that word lightly) of tension and control, and they have the use of careful repetition down to a science, developing the heavy blues riffs tirelessly - and yes I’m going to say this - it’s a bit like the best kinds of sexual experience - it builds on and on, as far and further than you think it can go, peaking at exactly the right time without getting boring or routine.

Mike on lead guitar is a genuine conduit of the riff, it flows through him naturally and unashamedly, and that lack of filter or self-censorship is what makes him exceptional - that and his excellent bandmates who support this talent and help build these songs in they way that they do. It’s fantastic.

It was not just me (as I heard others say it) but this might have been the best they’ve played in recent times and the performance & vibe was absolutely on point, and the grooves, tone and control were absolutely massive, digging into your brain and reverberating down through your whole body. It’s something to behold, and it was perfect in the context of our alldayer too.

Huge thanks to these guys for rocking out with us, and check out their album Vita Est Morte Est Vita. Set the lights low, pour out some strong liquor or roll up & drift away. taken in The Black Heart by @boreheadofficial

*BOREHEAD*

London’s own instrumental sludge/doom trio @boreheadofficial have slowly but surely cemented their place as one of the most important heavy bands in the capital’s underground scene, and we are delighted to be having them back as part of our own CW Homegrown Alldayer on Saturday 12 September at @ourblackheart

Crushingly heavy, with exceptional guitar tone, esoteric spoken word samples, musical tension that builds and builds until - finally - being released with massive force, Borehead are a *must see* band on the UK circuit and their live shows take you the most incredible psychedelic journeys. Grab a drink, chew a gummy, lean back and close your eyes as these guys take you on a trip deep into the black void.

Lead guitarist @mikerichards__ in particular is a regular face at heavy shows all around London and is a true and bonafide slave of the riff, and is a master in his particular slow, meticulous, ferocious style of heavy blues playing.

With a memorable @desertfest_london appearance already under their belts and some excellent studio material (not least their 2024 album ‘Vita Est Morte Est Vita’ on @argonautarecords ) these guys have carved out a space of their own and we are super excited to hear their latest material at Homegrown. 🔥

Tickets are available NOW over at @wegottickets or @dicefm so get yours booked in and support our scene! 💪🔥✌️
