Life doesn’t have to be in the fast lane.
Sometimes it’s nice to sit down and slow down for awhile.
*
Take time to watch the light change from night to day.
Take time to watch the clouds drift through the sky.
Listen for the birds in the morning to hear how many will sing.
Listen to the waters interactions with the shorelines.
Feel the wind on your face and through your hair.
Feel the warm of the sun and the chill of the evening air.

I know if I don’t find this space and time, my head doesn’t clear enough for me to think. My spirit comes up short of energy to shine, and my soul drowns in the endless running from one thing to another.

Our society today has many of us, programmed to believe if we aren’t doing something, it’s not worth our time. So I’ll take to wind in the trees and observe Mother Nature. I know she’ll take my hand, make me walk a little slower and smile.

Stout and stoked!

This weekend I paddled “mosh pit” “the wall” and “German basher” on the Clearwater River
Clearwater Kayak Festival 2022

Mosh pit was good, till suddenly it wasn’t. The usual “where the ….. did that come from?” Love this rapid can’t wait to play in the chaos again.

The wall was amazing, the hit was big and stout. It surged and shoved me up and to the right and into the edge of the eddy for a clean line.

German basher was a beauty wave at 440cms with some pushy waves to navigate behind it.

Living life in colour

Fall is here and the leaves are changing. I can’t even put into words what these last two festivals have done for my heart.

Where’s your next adventure taking you?

As summer starts to slow down, people seem to settle in. I can’t help my heart that keeps yearning for the next adventure. I have to ask, where are you headed? It doesn’t have to be anything grande, it could be a walk on the trail across town. It could be a moment looking out a neighbourhood park. It could be a short drive to the edge of town. How about watching the migrating ducks at the local lagoon?

Having a little something to look forward to has always helped my head and my heart. Have you put aside a little or grande adventure some time soon?

@clearwaterkayakfest hasn’t disappointed me!
*
Amazing community, good friends, warm waters, endless surf waves, supportive shuttles, and memories to last another year around the sun!
*
Thank you to everyone who lent a hand with loading boats, cooking lunch, manning the registration table, driving the u-haul & shuttle bus. Each moment of support and volunteer hours make this event happen!
*
To all the sponsors, the hype around this festival is real. It may be grass roots, but that’s what keeps bring the people back year after year.
*
This year was extra special. I got to support others in their first downriver SUP race, guide a new youngster for the first time in her paddle board down river, become a bright beacon for other paddlers to follow, and inspire a few kayakers that surfing on a paddle board is a good time.
*
Hope to see you all on the water again soon.

Charging the crux, in a crossbow stroke.

Making it matter.
*
Yes I paddle fairly neutral or square in my stance, but other skills have emerged from it.
My cross bow stroke will never be the same as my onside, but hot damn it’s now in my arsenal of tools when I need it.
*
Keep growing, and learning. I am still learning and working on the art of the staggered/surf stance as well.
