this years thanksgiving post - After a close call late this summer on the middle elk I feel extra grateful.

I genuinely gaslight myself into thinking i’m dramatic when I say I thought I was going to die, but it feels unfair to downplay what I honestly felt during this encounter.. and while this was an awful experience it was definitely the most impactful and i’m happy that i’ve only wanted to continue dialing in my risk management and paddling technique. Sharing this experience with peers and mentors has been insightful and leaves me grateful at the community i’m surrounded by. Since then I’ve spent the last almost two months travelling in my van and kayaking whenever I can, retraining my headspace. I got to assist on some courses with TRU which allowed me to spend time sharing my love for kayaking with keen learners and that was extremely beneficial for me.

Thankful for the people I have met who bring fresh joy, people who i’ve gotten to spend more time with recently, and those who have been w me for a journey. It’s easy to let a big incident take up so much space but in the overall picture i’ve had a lot of wins this year. Some i’m most proud of are getting to safety kayak and guide the beaver, running Stellars first female led beaver, upsy rightsy on overlander, clean rearguard lines, almost 3 months travelling in my van, new friends and new rivers. Sometimes it’s important to just be thankful to be right where you are. I’m lucky I get to be everywhere I am.

Grateful for adventure! Looking forward to an island winter ❄️

What do you talk about when you’re out in the wilderness with friends?
Isn’t it interesting where conversations can go given the time and space for them to meander without distraction?

Kanfest 2026

SUPing, kayaking, swimming, laughing - what more could you ask for? Absolutely loved turning up to an event and not knowing a single other paddler (except Tom) and joining a party lap an hour later

Thanks @captain_greenshirt_collective for capturing a fun-filled weekend 📸

I traveled to Alberta last month to join the Hala fam and team for a straight out of a movie trip. I got to paddle 4 different sections of the Bow and the main section of the Kananaskis for the Kanfest.

This trip meant so much to me and I was filled with emotions by the end of it. I hadn’t met some of my team members before this trip and they instantly felt like family.
Being surrounded by so much talent, stoke, kindness and genuine humans was overwhelming and my heart couldn’t handle all the goodness. My cup was overflowing the entire trip.

And then there’s the Canadian sup community. The most kind and welcoming humans. Paddling your home rivers with you was special and sharing the stoke of the sport that we all love was magical.

The other side of the trip that I was very emotional about was my injury journey. To be able to paddle for 6 days straight and do my first race was a huge milestone for me. I am so proud of my body and its ability to adapt.

Feeling extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to travel to an insanely beautiful place with fascinating and genuine humans, to paddle with such talented paddle boarders and am grateful for my strong and capable body.

Can’t wait for the next Hala fam trip! 😍

So many people I had to add more tags here😅

The Afterparty was full of awesomeness this year! @quadra_cove brought us one of the best shows we've had at the @clearwaterkayakfest They made it funky, wild and weird! Sylvain pulled out the decks afterwards and kept the party going! Can't wait to do it all next year.
