I recently learned of the existence of the Cloud Appreciation Society (@cloudappsoc) from a radio feature – "The society for people who love the sky". I was delighted. After all, I have been collecting particularly striking specimens for many years in my long-running Instagram series #boschclouds.

Upon closer inspection of the society's website, however, I was instantly crestfallen. The picture-book clouds that had seemed so special to me turn out to be the most ordinary of all varieties. The cumulus, as it is known among cloud lovers and cloud scientists, is a fair-weather cloud with often cauliflower-like tops. It is so common that "The Cloud Collector's Handbook" dismisses it as a low-scorer. Anyone who has never spotted a cumulus, the book says, should simply step outside and open their eyes.

@brauerei_kemker has been one of my absolute favourites for a long time. Jan & Nicole run a first-generation farm in Münster, Germany – grain, potatoes, agroforestry and more across 16 hectares. They also make beer, cider and bread. The brewery specialises in spontaneous fermentation, mixed fermentation and barrel ageing, combining traditional techniques with an uncompromising approach to quality. When beer friends haven't heard of Kemker, I tell them: Belgians order beer from Kemker.

Ophelia is a bière de coupage – a blend of young spelt beer and barrel-aged Aoltbeer. The fresh beer brings lift and tension. The aged beer adds depth and structure. Aromas are delicate and layered: lime oil, green tea and black pepper first, followed by mineral notes and a gentle funk. Medium acidity, balanced by a soft, brioche-like malt character.

Very happy that Kemker is finally back on the list at my favourite beer bar @themutedhorn here in Berlin 🍻🌾👨🏻‍🌾💜

A super elegant washed Ethiopian – 'Banko Taratu', roasted by @replicaroasters from Leuven, Belgium. They consistently do a fantastic job. Always a pleasure finding them at @chapteronecoffeeberlin. ☕️🇪🇹❤️

Is @aeropress still a thing? Definitely yes! The Anthony Kimany washed Keyan from @seycoffee was a real pleasure. Fruity and juicy. And I'm really happy that I've finally added the Flow Control Cap. No more dangerous inverted brewing when I'm still half asleep in the morning.
