Is @aeropress still a thing? Definitely yes! The Anthony Kimany washed Keyan from @seycoffee was a real pleasure. Fruity and juicy. And I'm really happy that I've finally added the Flow Control Cap. No more dangerous inverted brewing when I'm still half asleep in the morning.

@the_picky_chemist – Colombia – El Turpial – Washed Geisha

‘Is it worth all the hype?’ they asked me. And I always had to reply: ‘Unfortunately, yes.’

A wonderfully floral Geisha, with notes of mandarin and raspberries. Very intense and definitely one of my coffee highlights this year.

What to do when you're not really happy with the cup you've brewed?

I really had issues when brewing this Ethiopan Danche, honey process, roasted by @cafenspecialitycoffee from Scotland.

From a point of view the coffee appeared very light roasted. But also its solubility was surprisingly high.

When I tried brewing it on the Hario V60 01 ceramic, I could taste a rather unpleasant sharp acidity at the first sip.

When brewing a V60 I normally go for the @get.shoebox QC recipe when brewing 12g (find it in their Story Highlights) or for the @lancehedrick One & Done recipe (find it in YouTube) when brewing 15g.

The result was always: super sharp acidity. Even bypassing some water directly to the brew couldn't help.

Finally I switched to flat bottom brewer. And the @aprilcoffeecph dripper fixed it for me. I took out the unpleasant sharp acidity and delivered a very nice balanced experience. taken in Kreuzberg, Berlin, Germany by @thirdwavewichteln
