Even without taking part in the @germanaeropresschampionship, I had a lot of fun with the competition coffee. The bag keeps the origin a secret – but I'm not going too far out on a limb guessing that this @fiveelephant roast, sponsored by @cafeimportseurope, is a Kenya. A wonderful reason to bring the @aeropress back out.

First time travelling with the new hand grinder from @aprilcoffeecph. Not available until January, but already proving to be an excellent travel companion. Oh, and it turns out it also works with the AeroPress.

When did you last have a world-class experience in a café? For me, it's genuinely mindblowing every single time I make it to @coffee_nerd_hd in Heidelberg. In this quiet little southern German city, Thomas runs one of the most ambitious multi-roaster cafés in Europe. Coffees from the world's best roasters – SEY, Big Sur, Goût & Co., The Picky Chemist, Terraform, Flower Child, Shoebox, Tim Wendelboe, Datura, and more – have been prepared here with the utmost precision since 2012. The setup matches the ambition: Option-O Lagom 01 grinder, a Mavam Espresso under-counter machine, and an AKVO Water Systems reverse osmosis unit.

The approach to specialty coffee here is so welcoming that many of the regulars have no idea they have the finest possible coffee experience right on their doorstep. While the geeks light up at pour overs, turbo shots and soup shots on the menu, casual coffee drinkers find their personal best with a cappuccino or an Americano.

Unlike Berlin, Heidelberg doesn't exactly have a queue of experienced superstar baristas from around the world lining up for a job. The talented @xxannadu – check his excellent blog thehumanbrew.com – is very much the exception and an absolute stroke of luck. All the more reason that new staff are trained carefully on the job to maintain the level. Some of them will probably only realise later that they've landed a job at one of the best cafés in the world ☕️🌎❤️

Is @aeropress still a thing? Definitely yes! The Anthony Kimany washed Keyan from @seycoffee was a real pleasure. Fruity and juicy. And I'm really happy that I've finally added the Flow Control Cap. No more dangerous inverted brewing when I'm still half asleep in the morning.

What about you? Do you enjoy Aeropress? ☕️💪🏼🗽🇰🇪💜

Cupping fun with @timwendelboe. The fresh Ethiopians and Kenyans are fantastic. He's still one of my all time favourites: roasting, green buying, producer relations, farming, researching, podcasting, inspiration, everything.

Many thanks to @tornqvistcoffee for sharing your very last bags ☕️💛🩷❤️

Never been so much in love with a natural coffee before. Producer Lagesse Botasa, @bursa_coffee and @gout_and_co did a perfect job. Floral, tropical, juicy – yet super clean. Every sip of this one was a pleasure. (Picked it up at @coffee_nerd_hd – thanks for always spotting the best beans on the planet.) ☕️🩷🩷🩷

Loved the washed Kenyan Kamavindi - Framagi
Peaberry from @daturacoffee_paris in June. A very elegant cup with notes of juniper berries ☕️🇰🇪🥰

I got my bag from the very best @chapteronecoffeeberlin.

The new @aprilcoffeecph is now available on @kickstarter ☕️🚀

Does the world really need another hand grinder? Probably not. Does it need this one? Absolutely.

The new April hand grinder impresses with its outstanding build quality and the balanced results it delivers in the cup. It's a perfect fit for the April brewing system – but it's also officially approved for use with other drippers. I've tried it myself. It works great.

@coffeecollectif from Copenhagen came to Berlin this weekend for a wonderful cupping, an amazing brew bar takeover and delicious soft serve. Thank you so much, @rasmuslowenstein. That was fun!

Also many thanks to the @acid.cafe P-Berg team for hosting this great event! ☕️🍦🇩🇰❤️

Colour codes influence how we perceive coffee. Not just the colour of the cup, but almost certainly the label too. @seycoffee does this particularly well. With this ‘Halo Hartume’, a washed Ethiopian, I could taste nothing but lemongrass. Naturally. ☕️💛
