There’s been a pretty big shift at Box & Barber over the last couple of months.

In many ways, it feels like we’ve completely shed our skin.

After nearly 12 years of doing this, one thing we’ve learned is that you can never stand still. You have to keep looking at what you do, being honest with yourself, and asking how you can make it better.

Over the last few months, we made the decision to really raise our standards across the board. The food, the coffee, the service, the atmosphere and most importantly the experience you have when you walk through our doors.

Change isn’t always easy, and along the way our team has almost completely changed. There’s no negativity towards anyone who has been part of our journey before, we’re genuinely grateful to everyone who has played a part in Box & Barber over the years.

But right now, it honestly feels like a new chapter.

We have an incredible new team, a renewed energy and a standard that we’re really proud of. It feels like Box & Barber again, just a better, more grown up version of itself.

And we wanted to say this particularly to anyone who maybe hasn’t been in for a while. Maybe your last experience wasn’t quite what you hoped it would be, or perhaps you just haven’t thought about us for a bit.

Come back and give us another go.

We think you’ll notice the difference.

We’re incredibly proud of what Box & Barber has become, and after nearly 12 years in Newquay, we’re more excited about its future than ever.

Thank you, Newquay, for continuing to support us through every version of this little café. 💛

Here’s to the next chapter.

Coffee has always been a big part of who we are ☕️

We’ve been pouring Origin Coffee for nearly 12 years now, and we still love it just as much as we did at the beginning.

Newquay has an amazing coffee culture and we’re just happy to be a small part of it. Making great coffee, every day, for locals and visitors alike.

Even better when the Cornish sun makes an appearance ☀️

See you for a coffee x

☕️ ORIGIN LATTE ART SMACKDOWN 2026 ☕️

What a night! 🔥

We were super stoked to host the 2026 Origin Coffee Latte Art Throwdown at Box & Barber, bringing together some seriously talented baristas for a proper battle on the coffee machine. 🏆☕️

Great coffee, ridiculous latte art and an amazing atmosphere from start to finish.

Massive thanks to Origin Coffee for hosting the event and @bluntrockbrewery for supplying the beer, everyone who stepped up to compete, and everyone who came down and made the night what it was. 🙌

We absolutely loved hosting it.

Same again next year? 👀☕️

ONE BARISTA WANTED ☕️

We’re not looking to fill a load of positions. We’re looking for one great person to join the Box & Barber team.

Coffee has always been a huge part of what we do. We care about the beans, the equipment, the technique, the consistency and most importantly, the experience that lands on the table.

So we’re looking for someone who gets that.

You’ll need to be confident behind the machine, passionate about speciality coffee, great with people and proud of what you put across the counter.

In return, you’ll be joining an established, busy independent coffeehouse in the heart of Newquay, working with a team that genuinely cares about doing things properly.

If you think you could be our one, we’d love to hear from you.

DM us or send over your CV.

Before we’re anything else, we’re a coffee shop. And great coffee is what we do best.

Whether you’re heading to the beach, on your way to work, or just passing through town, our takeaway coffee is made with the same care and attention as every cup we serve in house.

As we head into silly season, you don’t have to compromise on quality or queue for ages. Pop in, grab a specialty coffee, and be on your way in minutes.

See you at the coffee machine. ☕

As we edge towards the summer solstice, the days are growing longer and Newquay is starting to settle into its summer rhythm.

Early surfs. Long evenings. Familiar faces.

Box is ready for another season of good coffee and great company.

If you know, you know. 🌴

The SEMPA fish

It’s been sitting on the wall at Box & Barber for years, shaped locally by Oly Parker, and has quietly become one of the most photographed things in the café.

Thousands of coffees served underneath it. Probably thousands of photos taken of it too.

It just belongs there.

We’d love to know how many camera rolls this board has made it onto over the years…

Got a photo of it? Tag us in your story, let’s see how far back we can go…
