This harness was designed, burnished, & made by ya grrl in a workshop I took at the Chicago School of Shoemaking & Leather Arts. 💪🏾⛓️

I particularly love this seasonal transition, saw hella flowering plants this week while outdoor leaves are browning & falling away. To the fragrance of flowering trees & the sound of rustling leaves, the transition of this & that, of summer to fall. This beauty at the Morton Arboretum. 🌳

Gratitude this summer for what’s come to me through landscape, soundscape, & innervision, for the scent of cut grass, rocks rested in water, of summer rain & roasted corn, of palo santo when it wafts through a space, & rosemary’s clarity. Felt grass beneath my feet, friendly hands in mine, certain grief. Took notice of how when I sit quietly enough I often cross paths with a local possum, hear birdsong I can now identify as red cardinals. Heard the voices of many relatives & my own heart’s desire. Tasted the salinity & the sweetness of way too many oysters. Got sticky from paletas melting under a hot night sky. Reintegrated, connected.

Anyway, someone located a phone I lost 5 years ago & I’m shook. 2021 was a whole different timeline, Been calling back the spirit of play this year, here’s to playing, touching, remembering & receiving. by @braingarden

In this collection I’m showing off a cozy green & blue knit outfit that my mama made me. Some other moments include a visit to the botanical garden, dabblings in paint,
a red shimmy belt I learned to make while taking a burlesque class at @houseofthelorde, & a cute doodle of me that my mom drew on the back of a homemade card.

Last slide is a throwback (2021) as I remember I used to approach my dysregulation with the tool of stim singing to gospel songs that have always made me feel held. Somebody’s granny echoing in my head talkin’ ‘bout some, that’s your voice for you to use. & will. by @braingarden

Few things I appreciate more than being fed by people who care about me, being outside in my city, both movement & stillness, & spending time with little ones who want to craft with me, like, the miniatures were givinggg. With this recent solar return I chose to remember to make time & space for joy.

Gratitude for these moments and experiences, for the morning spent learning about the history & agricultural systems of the chinampas at Xochimilco, for birdwatching & stillness & flowing, & for one of the most heartfelt meals I had while I was in Mexico City, made fresh from ingredients harvested from the land. 🌱 to booking a hot air balloon experience, GOING, & facing my fear of heights, to seeing the sunrise over the pyramids of Teotihuacán & exploring on foot. To all the neighborhoods I made my way through, to all of the art I saw, to the mezcals I tasted & for the hospitality of complete strangers.
