I didn’t finish the race... so why am I still proud?

50.69 km. 5,040m Ascent. 4397 Descent. 8340 Calories. 18 hours and 46 minutes on my feet.

I stopped just short of the finish line. I had 1h14 left on the clock, but at the last checkpoint, they said I needed at least two hours to make the cutoff. DNF.

In that moment, I felt it all. Defeat. Humiliation. Emotional.

But that’s not the full story:

• The Pre-Race Chaos: 24 hours before the start, a bee sting turned my foot into a swollen mess. My shoe barely fit before the first step.

• Weakness: I’d rolled my ankle the week before. On the Rinjani injuries aren‘t just inconveniences; they are amplified by a landscape that wants to break you.

• The Compensation: Between 5-10 km I was overcompensating to protect the ankle and the blisters. By the time I hit the downhills, my knees were blown.

If the blisters at hour two were the beginning of the end, the volcanic sand at hour eight was the breaking point.
There is no harder mental test than taking three steps up and sliding two back in shifting ash while your feet are already destroyed.
It felt like every mountain was trying to pull me back down, forcing a 17-hour negotiation between my mind and a body that had seen enough.

This race is a different beast - only 78 out of 369 runners (20%) made it under the 20-hour limit.

But while the race was the challenge, the community was the soul. Having supportive friends and seeing friends show up in the dark, even run with me toward that final checkpoint...
That meant everything.

So no, I didn’t ”finish.“ But I didn’t quit, either.

I met a version of myself that keeps moving when the math doesn’t add up and the body says ”stop.“

I’m still processing it all.

I walked away realizing that finishing isn‘t always about the line you cross.. but the person you become along the way. taken in Rinjani 100 by @bramm

Summa means “the sum of all things.” It’s the meeting point of everything that matters - community, comfort, and nature. Designed for those who seek more than a getaway, where moments become memories. #indonesia #lombok taken in Selong Belanak Lombok Indonesia by @bramm

Once a year, do something that scares you. Something big enough to define your year.

For me:
🥊 A Muay Thai fight.
🏃 A marathon in Singapore.
🏔 Next: 42 km trail marathon with 2,200 m elevation - in just couple weeks of prep.

It’s not about the odds of finishing.
It’s about who you become when you try.

This will be my 2025 story.

Day 30/30. Recap of this 30-day challenge

To be honest: After the marathon I delayed one day of posting (but I take it for granted because I needed some rest😮‍💨)
One month flew by while everyday felt like a new challenge.
I tried to challenge myself in many different ways with 0 regrets.

I’ve learned a lot by just starting messy and taking action; this challenge is done, the marathon is finished🦿and I hope the house won’t take long anymore (fingers crossed).

I’ll try to keep the momentum going, but it won’t be any daily videos anymore- Thank you all who supported during these weeks! It means the world to me. 🫶🏼 by @bramm

Day 29/30. Sorry guys, I gave it my all, but I didn’t hit sub-4 hours. I’m not unsatisfied with the results, but it would have been an extra bonus for me.

Official time: 4:05:16.
Pace 5:49/km
Singapore Humidity: 94%

Still can’t think it’s done already and not having to train anymore. In July my longest run has been a 10k run so I learned a lot. It was a pleasure boys. On to the next goal🦅 taken in Singapore by @bramm

- Day 26/30. Willing to post a bad video

Let’s be real; tonight I’m running low on energy. We’ve just arrived in Singapore for the marathon, which kicks off at 4:30 AM on Sunday. Sleep has been a rare commodity these past few weeks and tonight I need to prioritize rest above all else.

But here’s the thing: Before starting this challenge skipping a post on a day like this would have been a no-brainer. I’d have justified it as *“It’s fine, I’ll make one later.”*

Now the real lesson isn’t about posting something “good”—it’s about showing up even when it’s messy, tired, or far from your best. Consistency matters more than perfection, and sometimes, the act of sharing *something* is the win in itself. taken in Singapore by @bramm
