Our Easter eggs - dyed with onion skins and decorated with whatever is growing in the garden. (I posted a how-to a little while back)

Kofta bil batinjan. Baked kofta with eggplant and tomato. @sami_tamimi recipe from his brilliant book FALASTIN.
This was such a delicious dish, which he rightly calls a comfort meal - it is warm, flavourful, with wonderful aromas. A side of rice was a perfect accompaniment to mop up those fabulous juices.
This cookbook is one of my favourites, with lots of amazing recipes, Falastin is also a celebration of culture, identity and stories of the people from Sami’s homeland.

Poached pears with mascarpone cream or biscoff crust cheesecake with blackberries and turmeric honey. Which one would you choose?

Roasted tomato sauce - creamy, fresh, delicious. #tomato#sauce#roasted#homemade#dinner#eatwell#eatlocal by @brat_h_

Whole roasted cauliflower - toasty on the outside (dark bits are my favourite), lovely and tender on the inside. Flavoured with spices, garlic, lemon and a good amount of olive oil. Topped with sour cream mix, roasted red pepper pesto, cilantro and pine nuts. Dinner done! #food#foodstagram#foodandwine#foodies#f52gram#munchies#lifeandthyme#huffposttaste#williamssonoma#saveur#cauliflower#roast#ontarioproduce#eatwell#homemade by @brat_h_

A sign that September is here - every year, for a very long time, we choose a day in September to make our yearly supply of tomato sauce. It’s a labour of love, takes a bit of preparation, but once all the jars are filled and everything is clean and washed, we get to sit down and “taste test” the fruits of our labour. The sauce is a bit different every year, depending on the tomatoes. This year is an exceptionally good one, these San Marzano tomatoes are very meaty and full of flavour. Can’t wait to use it in a year to come! #tomatoes##tomatosauce#homemade#sanmarzano#eatwell#eatlocal#ontarioproduce#ontariogrown#delicious#pasta#dinner by @brat_h_

Stuffed Hungarian peppers - every time I see these peppers, I buy them just to make this dish! Filled with a mixture of meats and rice, then cooked until tender and lush. Topped with sour cream. Traditionally served with a side of mashed potatoes, but a good crusty bread to mop up the sauce is always a good option! #peppers#stuffed#stuffedpeppers#dinner#homemade#eatfresh#saveur#williamssonoma#staub#eatwell#munchies#ontarioproduce#food#foodandwine#foodstagram#foodies by @brat_h_

Summer zucchini pizza - another recipe to use beautiful fresh zucchini while in season. The base is crème fraîche, grated parmigiano, nutmeg, salt and pepper. Spread onto pizza dough, then top with thinly sliced zucchini, anchovies and a drizzle of good olive oil. Bake and finish with a shower of parmigiano. I had some lovely cucumber flowers in the garden, so they also went on top. Dinner done 💚 #food#foodandwine#foodstagram#foodies#foodporn#f52grams#saveur#williamssonoma#pizza#zucchini#parmigiano#eatwell#eatlocal#homemade#munchies by @brat_h_

Chicken with tarragon - a match made in heaven! Made on rotisserie, with potatoes that were cooked below it and were flavoured with its juices. Served alongside steamed vegetables with basil/parsley sauce and stunning tomato salad (thank you for the most delicious tomatoes Chiara! ❤️) #food#foodandwine#foodstagram#foodies#foodporn#f52grams#foodgawker#saveur#gourmet#williamssonoma#napoleongrill#dinner#homemade#chicken#tarragon#potato#grill#tomatosalad#vegetables#eatwell#eatlocal by @brat_h_

Eggplant stacks - one of my favourite vegetables and dishes. Breaded, fried and layered with mozzarella, tomato sauce and topped with fresh basil. Dinner done! #food#foodandwine#foodstagram#foodies#foodstagram#f52grams#munchies#saveur#homemade#eggplant#mozzarella#tomato#sauce#basil#eatwell#eatlocal#dinner#williamssonoma#ontarioproduce#galbani#huffposttaste by @brat_h_

Peach and plum cobbler - it’s peach season and this is one of delicious ways to showcase those beauties! Adding almonds to the topping brings extra crunch and flavour. Serve with ice cream, crème fraîche, whipping cream - or all of the above! #food#dessert#peach#plum#ontariopeaches#foodandwine#saveur#lecreuset#williamssonoma#eatwell#eatlocal#homemade by @brat_h_

One of the simplest pasta dishes, taking advantage of the best summer tomatoes and freshest herbs. Comes together in no time, so you get to enjoy your meal, people around you and the beautiful weather. #pasta#tomato#basil#dinner#homemade#eatwell#eatlocal#summer#summerstyle#williamssonoma#allclad#foodandwine#food#foodstagram#foodies#f52grams#munchies#saveur#buzzfeedfood by @brat_h_
