This is our buddy Maddux. As I sit here this morning my heart is so torn, it’s torn and hurting so bad.

No preparation in this world can prepare you for the journey you have to step daily after finding out your child has cancer.

How a simple fever now becomes being admitted and not just going back home.

A simple cold is no longer a simple cold where you’re told to let it run its course, but another fight.

Crowded places become somewhere you refuse to go.

Mask and hand sanitizer becomes a necessity.

In my head I feel like I need to deep clean every single day because my mind is telling me don’t skip a day or my baby can get sick.

You want to put your child in a bubble because for once you see how big and scary this world is to a child fighting cancer.

But…… you also don’t want to take their childhood away.

Maddux is stepping into 3 months of fighting and I never imagined it would be this hard as a mother to stand by and witness all we have had to witness with our sweet Maddux.

We have went through so much these last 3 months I don’t think anyone could even try to understand.

I wish more than anything in this world I could take this away from him.

Even though this journey has made me feel so numb, sick to my stomach, so many sleepless nights and worried every second of the day, I know my god is going to give him the strength and ability to kick cancers ass.

We are going to get through every obstacle put in our way to get over that mountain so Maddux can ring that bell.

If yall are the praying type please add my baby to your prayers 🤍

Update from Mom on Ky. Today was what we are hoping was Ky’s last chemo. We won’t know for sure until his PET scan on the 17th, but on the drive there this morning, all 3 kids were asleep and I just felt like this was the last one. I don’t know if I was simply putting it out into the universe or just letting myself feel hopeful, but for about 10 minutes, I felt calm about it. Then reality hit again, there’s always that possibility that this isn’t the end, or the fear of relapse somewhere down the road. I do my best not to let myself spiral thinking about those “what ifs.”

Nolan had to work today because, unfortunately, cancer doesn’t care about schedules or real life. Ky’s labs looked okay today, and right now we’re just keeping an eye on a few things. As long as everything stays where it needs to, he won’t need a transfusion.

Next up, we have Ky’s proton radiation consult Tuesday at Emory. We’re praying the amount of radiation needed is small and that this next step won’t last too long.

We’re so close to the finish line, and we’re holding onto hope harder than ever. Thank you for all the prayers sent. 💜🎗 by @braxton_dollar_foundation

Update on Jake from mom. Jake had his first Survivor appointment on Monday. It was a long day, with lots of test, but everything went great. I don’t have the official results but what I’ve seen on MyChart all looks perfect. I didn’t think to take pictures until the last scan. Thank you all again for your prayers over the years. taken in Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Arthur M. Blank Hospital by @braxton_dollar_foundation

This is something cancer parents can relate to because pediatric cancer changes your perspective.🎗️ What some may see as “spoiling”others see as living in every moment we are given with our children. by @braxton_dollar_foundation

Hey y’all! It has already been such a long day, and it’s only noon. 😅 We were up at 5am, left the house by 6am, and got here around 7:15.

Ky had his clinic appointment at 8am, and they decided to push his PET scan back until next Tuesday. They explained that since he’s getting chemo today, the scan wouldn’t give the most accurate results because chemo takes a few days to fully work. I’m not going to lie, I was pretty bummed about that because I just want confirmation that the chemo IS working, but I understand why they made that decision. They briefly mentioned radiation and more aggressive treatment options, but we are not going down that rabbit hole unless we absolutely have to depending on his PET results.

I was telling Nolan last night that one of the hardest parts of all of this is simply not knowing. We can see the side effects, the hair loss, exhaustion, and everything else, but we can’t physically see the chemo doing its job. All we can do is trust the process and pray that it’s working exactly the way it’s supposed to.

Ky is pretty tired today, but he’s still in good spirits. We’re sticking with the same post chemo medication plan as last treatment and hoping it continues to help just as much this round. 🎗💜 taken in Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta by @braxton_dollar_foundation
