Wouaaah ! 🤩

quelle soirée, quelle soirée ! ❤️

Des rires,
un quiz en équipe,
des histoires partagées
et des jeunes qui ont pris le micro
pour faire entendre leur voix.

D’Eischen à Filsdorf,
en passant par Mamer et Esch,
on s’est retrouvés au-delà des écrans pour jouer, échanger et sortir de notre bulle numérique.

Trois maisons de jeunes et un foyer de jeunes, des influenceurs, des éducateurs, un psychologue et des jeunes : tous réunis pour une soirée au-delà des écrans.

C’est ça, la force d’une communauté :
se sentir à sa place,
oser participer et vivre des moments qu’aucun téléphone ne peut remplacer.

Merci aux jeunes, aux intervenants et à tous ceux qui ont rendu ce premier événement BRB en présentiel possible.

Ask a room full of young people what they want to become.

Half the hands:

INFLUENCER! ✋

We get it.
We all have the need to feel seen.
It's the oldest human need there is.

But someone has to show
the behind the scenes:

Being an influencer
is a terrible way to make a living.

– The algorithm is your boss.
– Your face is the product.
– And the product is never allowed to have a bad day.

You don't sell your work.
You sell yourself.

Here's the part nobody tells you:

When your need to be seen is nurtured —
at home, at school, in one good community,
even by one good educator —
you don't need to be seen by strangers.

Seen people don't chase views.
They don't need validation.

Nobody is saying don't post, don't create.

We love creating.
We're literally posting this right now 🙈

But know which game you're playing:

Are you visible to support something you're building — a product, a service, a skill?

Or is being visible the whole product?

One builds your future.

The other builds a stage
you can never leave.

That's one reason why @brb.mode exists.

'brb – be right back' started as a podcast
WITH young people about screens and mental health.

12 episodes filmed in one week and a @forbes_luxembourg feature later, I was like
"O shoot, all of it lives on a screen!"

A strange way to remind you
that life is happening elsewhere, too.

So on Friday 9 October, ahead of World Mental Health Day, we’re bringing over forty cool kids on the block together at @crije.asbl - the Escher Jugendhaus.

Some people are coming from all over Luxembourg.
And beyond.

Real talk with influencers and mental health experts.
A surprise on stage.
Food and drinks on us.
Six e-scooters for the winning team.
One each.

Behind the scenes?

Back and forth with supporters
who opened doors and helped make it happen.

Despite the creative chaos that goes along,
people are here for a cause:
Support mental health.

And, in between, someone called me out:

“You’re always online while encouraging people to go offline.”

Good point.

For me, screens are tools to create meaningful connections that continue beyond them.

So, mark this answer for the QUIZ.

Being online a lot to make something happen
is not addiction.

It’s excessive consumption:
using screens more than you normally would,
for a while,
knowing you can come back.

Addiction is when you can’t come back.

It’s when you need more
despite the harm it causes.

I can’t wait to log off.
Friday is the day.

Or, who knows, perhaps the adrenaline spike makes me post again 🙈
