Different paths. Same fight.

You didn’t choose this.
But you’ve kept going anyway.

That’s courage.

Dear Body,
I’m sorry for all the times I looked at you and only saw the things I wanted to change. I’m sorry I didn’t always appreciate you when you were healthy. I didn’t realize how much I would miss the version of you I once took for granted. Then one day you betrayed me.
Or at least that’s what it felt like.
You gave me cancer.
You became the place where my fear lived. The place where doctors found something that would change my entire life. Suddenly you weren’t something I was worried about fitting into clothes or feeling confident in. You became something I was fighting to keep alive. And then I had to make choices about you that no woman should ever have to make. I cut pieces of you away to save my life. I watched you change through chemotherapy, through menopause, through surgeries, through scars and pain and healing. I lost my hair. I lost parts of the body I had known my entire life. I lost the reflection I recognized.
But somewhere along the way I realized something…. You were never the enemy.
You were the body that carried me through it all.
You endured every needle, every medication, every surgery, every scar, every sleepless night. You kept showing up when I was exhausted. You healed when I didn’t think you could. You adapted when I asked you to survive things you never should have had to. And you taught me that beauty was never about having the body I started with. Beauty was surviving long enough to become someone I never knew I could be.
So, Body, I forgive you.
And more importantly I forgive myself for not loving you sooner. I may not look the way I once did. I may never have the body I thought I would grow old with.
But I have this one.
This scarred, changed, imperfect, resilient body.
And I am proud of her.
You didn’t fail me.
You saved me.
And I promise I will spend the rest of my life treating you like the miracle you always were.
Love,
Me

If your body could read one honest letter from you today what would you say?

Drop it in the comments. ā¤ļø

What if one billboard could make someone ask a question that changes their life?

That’s why this mattered.

Seeing BRCA & Beyond and BRCAStrong in Times Square was incredible, but the real moment was seeing hereditary cancer awareness take up space where thousands of people could see it.

BRCA1. BRCA2. Lynch syndrome. PALB2. CHEK2. ATM. And so many others.

These genetic mutations affect real people, real families and generations. The more we talk about them, the more opportunities we create for someone to recognize their risk, ask questions, get tested and make informed decisions about their health.

Two organizations. One shared mission: making hereditary cancer risk harder to ignore and easier to understand.

And we’re just getting started. šŸ’—

You may see ā€œ3D mammographyā€ listed as an option when scheduling a mammogram, but do you know what that actually means for your screening?

Tomosynthesis can help radiologists see breast tissue more clearly and may be especially useful when dense tissue makes abnormalities harder to detect on traditional mammography.

The important part isn’t memorizing the terminology. It’s understanding the screening tools available to you and asking your healthcare provider which ones make sense for your individual risk and breast density. šŸ’—

Know the terms. Ask the questions. Know your options.

We fought to protect our futures. We deserve to feel heard, supported, and cared for while living them.

This World Menopause Day, we’re turning up the volume:

PREVIVORS MATTER.
SURVIVORS MATTER.
THRIVERS MATTER.
OUR QUALITY OF LIFE MATTERS.

For those facing menopause after risk-reducing surgery or cancer treatment, ā€œjust deal with itā€ is never enough. We deserve answers, informed conversations, and care that considers our individual histories and needs.

Special thanks to Dr. Corinne Menn @drmennobgyn and Dr. Jordan Emont @drjordanemont for creating space for our voices, fighting for patients, and helping us understand hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and our options.

Our voices need to be louder. Our needs deserve action. And our care cannot end with prevention or survival. šŸ¦‹

šŸ“Œ Save This: Breast Cancer Screening by Risk

Breast cancer screening isn’t one-size-fits-all, especially when hereditary risk is part of the picture.

For people who carry a hereditary cancer mutation, screening may be more frequent and can involve multiple imaging methods, including mammography, ultrasound, and breast MRI, used at different points throughout the year.

Your family history, breast density, personal medical history, and specific genetic mutation can all help shape the screening plan that’s right for you.

Know your risk, then work with your healthcare team to build a screening plan around it. šŸ’—

Screening recommendations vary based on individual risk and medical guidance. Always confirm your personal screening plan with your healthcare provider.

This week, @brcastrong did a thing! šŸ’—šŸ“£

While partnering with Weill Cornell for the Patient Wellness and Connection Space, we brought our own ā€œMarch to Menopauseā€ to Dr. Corinne Menn’s panel—raising our voices for previvors, survivors, and thrivers. @drmennobgyn @wcmcancergenetics

Because behind every sign is someone navigating changes to their body, their identity, and their quality of life. Someone who deserves to be heard, supported, and included in the menopause conversation.

Our voices matter. Our care matters. And we will keep showing up until everyone hears us. šŸ¦‹

Behind every package is a person preparing for a life-changing moment. Someone who deserves comfort, dignity, and support.

We’ve had to close our programs, and we need your help to reopen them. The need hasn’t stopped.

Please donate today. Help BRCAStrong keep showing up for the people who need us. Every dollar helps us put care into someone’s hands. šŸ¦‹

šŸ’” Tip of the Day: Feeling nervous about your first mammogram?

A little preparation can make the appointment feel more manageable. Consider booking an early appointment so you have less time to anticipate it, bring headphones or something that helps you feel grounded, and most importantly, tell your mammography technologist that you’re nervous.

They can explain what’s happening step by step, let you know what to expect, and give you a moment when you need one.

Your first mammogram may feel unfamiliar. You don’t have to pretend it doesn’t. šŸ’—
