When I began my gender journey and transition, I thought I had it all figured out. But I didn’t realize how fluid it would be, that I needed to listen to my body and gut, and not force myself to be or look like something I’m not. Every person’s transition is unique and worthy of celebration! I’m proud to be nonbinary and gender nonconforming. I’m grateful for the hormones and procedures I’ve been able to access, and the incredible friends and community I’ve made along the way ☺️ taken in Los Angeles, California by @breakthebinary

Repost from @humanitiproject: NO PRIDE IN GENOCIDE.

Israel’s pinkwashing campaign exploits LGBTQ+ rights to project a progressive image, while Israeli bombs and bullets kill queer Palestinians just the same.

While there are certainly issues with being LGBTQ+ in Palestine, Israel’s propaganda ignores the reality of being part of the community in Israel, alongside the weaponisation of sexuality by the Israeli state to blackmail, abuse and intimidate LGBTQ+ people not only in Palestine, but around the world.

No Pride in Apartheid.
No Pride in Genocide.

Today is ✨ #InternationalPronounsDay ✨ and as someone who has been using THEY/THEM as pronouns for the past 10 years I’m reposting this 🍎 101 video 🍎 to help you understand some basics:

👉 We all use pronouns in our daily conversations, including gender pronouns (third person pronouns)! It’s nothing new, and you might be surprised to see how often you already use gender neutral pronouns.

👉 There are so many gender pronoun sets that exist beyond he/him, she/her, and they/them. And they are all valid and worthy of respect! Look them up and practice using them if you’re not familiar.

👉 Do your best to not assume or assign pronouns to people! You never know how someone wants to be addressed, just as you can’t tell someone’s name just by looking at them. Break assumptions!

👉 If you want to ask for someone’s pronouns, the best approach is to state your own first! This helps level the playing field. And don’t just do this with people you think “look” trans or nonbinary (see previous point)!

For trans and nonbinary folks: What do you wish other people knew about pronouns? Share in the comments below! ❤️ by @breakthebinary

It was 14 years ago today that I came out to my senior year English teacher, Mr. Linder. He helped run the GSA at my high school and was active in my church, but he kept to himself most of the time. As a deeply closeted kid following years of consistent bullying and alienation, I saw Mr. Linder as the only representation of queer adults at my school and began sticking around after class to chat with him.

One day after doing deep reflection about my identity, I came to him in tears and shame, and I managed to articulate the words “…I’m gay.” He smiled, handed me a tissue, and pointed to a sign in the corner that said in capital letters: OCT 11TH NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY. I looked back at him and laughed; it felt like the universe aligned for me to finally be my authentic self.

To this day, I’m grateful for him and the many people along my journey who were inspirations and possibility models for me to become my most authentic self. Since that day, I’ve come out as queer, trans, and nonbinary, and who knows how I’ll identify 14 years from now. What I do know is that I’ll continue to be visible so that others know that they’re not alone if they come out, to be a Mr. Linder for someone else. 🌈 taken in Hollywood, California by @breakthebinary
