In honor of #InternationalPronounsDay here's a lesson in pronouns with @breakthebinary! 💖

Pronouns are the words or terms used instead of a person’s name. Examples include:
⠀
He/Him: “Sam is my friend. I know him. He is funny. His favorite color is green.”
⠀
She/Her: “Morgan is my friend. I know her. She is funny. Her favorite color is green.”
⠀
They/them: “Addison is my friend. I know them. They are funny. Their favorite color is green.”
⠀
No Pronouns: “Jesse is my friend. I know Jesse. Jesse is funny. Jesse’s favorite color is green.”
⠀
There are many more sets of pronouns that exist and some folks use multiple sets of pronouns. All sets of pronouns are valid and worthy of respect! 🥰

Here’s what you can do!
⠀
1. Share your pronouns when you introduce yourself! Try this format: “Hi my name is ___ and my pronouns are ___/___. How about you?” 😊
⠀
2. Add your pronouns to everything! This can include social media platforms, business cards, email signatures, and Zoom display names. 🙌
⠀
3. If you mess up, apologize and commit to change! Don’t make it about yourself either 🤫
⠀
4. Don’t assume anyone’s pronouns on any basis (voice, expression, gender)! Just because someone is nonbinary doesn’t necessarily mean that person uses they/them pronouns. 👏
