Pocket Prairie Home Companion 🌾

30 plants for 30 years from @citizensforconservation featuring purple love grass, wild geranium, junegrass, side-oats grama, sky blue asters, smooth beardtongue, goldenrod, coneflower, and sweet susans (sadly the butterfly milkweed didn’t make it).

The pocket prairie is situated up on the Josh-formed plateau near Moe’s Mound in the back-back yard and it’s been so fun to watch it grow from above and below!

I watered it a bit after planting but these guys are drought tolerant and thriving! There are more birds, bees, and butterflies in the yard than ever, plus crickets, a praying mantis, field mice, and a raccoon. 🪶 taken in West Englewood by @breanne_

First United Life Insurance Company in Gary, Indiana AKA the MECCA building featuring a wide array of signtronix-ish injection-molded fiberglass signage 💅

Originally a drama and vaudeville house before it was remodeled for retail, offices, civic functions, and dwellings! FKA the Moe Theater (very briefly) and the Gary Theater. Slated for demolition and redevelopment by the City of Gary. taken in Gary City Center Historic District by @breanne_

Milwaukee, WI 🪾

Signtronix sign featuring extremely rare simulated wood grain background with text that reads “reliable auto service” and clip art of pointing hand with text on the sleeve that reads “rear entrance” ~ the other side is doubly rare in that it’s an entirely different layout featuring clip art of mechanic under the hood, racing flags, and phone number. Such a cool golden hour find with friends on the way to Mader’s for @laurencsudbrink birthday 💛 taken in Milwaukee, Wisconsin by @breanne_

Signtronix sign featuring oval inset ornamental flatware on blue gradient background, a rose, a scrolling sheet of paper that transitions into a river city skyline; it reads Town & Country Family Restaurant in various fonts on white and black background — one of the more bizarre clipart combinations I’ve seen! taken in The Moon by @breanne_
