Did you know that here at 37 Looe Street we’re at the heart of a bread-forward power nexus?

Come fuel your mothers and prove your dough at tonight’s Optimizer! Companion performance from @bred.company - part of @juliapond_ Metabolizer show.

Not only that, but we’re across the street from sacred sandwich shamans @opecafe and round the corner from masterbakers @heylbakery and vegan valkyries of wraps, bao buns and focaccia @almanac.cafe.plymouth. There are even yeasty whispers in the air of more buns in new ovens.

I can’t believe this installation is at the halfway mark. Metabolizer is open @37looestreet for two more weeks and then our closing event 11 March.

So far our most productive day saw over 4 hours of dancing in the pod. Let’s keep that number growing Plymouth. Watch your dance affect the data in real time.

The Optimizer! performance series continues on 25 Feb.

Can’t wait to screen the first preview of @bred.company new film Distributing Dough, a short and typically sticky take on the ethics of patronage commissioned by the Science Museum research project Museums and Industry; Long Histories of Collaboration. This will be a chance to see it in the intimate setting of @37looestreet in Plymouth before an official outing later this year.

I’ll also perform the Manager-festo, a solo about how to stay at your most productive, as a veneer of corporate lingo slowly cracks to reveal fleshier, doughier underbellies.

Plus bar open, general hangouts, etc 🪩

Introducing Optimizer! And the invited artists who will share performance, film, essay-performance, performance-lecture and more over the course of the Metabolizer installation @37looestreet

Free to attend with a cash bar, 6-9pm, these events punctuate and animate the installation. Loosely inspired by the corporate practice “lunch and learn” they are a convivial curation with each evening in dialogue with different facets of Metabolizer. Come to one, or come to all.

Just 8 days ‘til Metabolizer opens @37looestreet !
If you like dancing and also critiquing economic growth please join us, please also come if you’re curious and just want to check it out. This is an interactive installation exploring economic growth through data, and more and more and more dancing.
I’ll be there Wednesdays through Saturdays aiming to grow the dancing time by 3% each day. Every Wednesday night i have invited other artists to join me in a curated mini-series called Optimizer! Everything free to attend. Opportunities to invest.

Last weekend @bred.company opened its doors in Barnstaple’s @shopgreenlanes for five whole days. Anyone could try out what it was like to work with us and about 250 people did! We had amazing conversations about work with a wide variety of people. We locked the doors and had meetings with bodies and lots of bread dough (don’t worry! We put a sign up letting folks know we were closed for internal meetings - they seemed happy to watch us through the glass!). It was great to see so many passers-by walk through our doors and get stuck into our work, contributing their own insights! It goes to show that BRED’s innovative structure translates to different backgrounds and experiences. And of course - our little BREDwinners won the contest for cutest employees.

We’ll post more soon as we sift through all the materials. For now thank you Barnstaple!

The first two days of BRED in Barnstaple have brought lots of new team members through the doors, to chat, grow their dough, or have a rest. A few sneak peeks.

Sunday join us for disco brunch 10:30-12 - an informal chance to eat, meet, chat and boogie with a work and bread themed playlist.

Exciting day getting the BRED office set up in Barnstaple, new office supplies (hello 16K bags of flour!), team members @manualbrecht and @mgerussi arriving - and twinning - and getting a few things ticked off our lists before the doors open tomorrow. We welcomed @samgcreates to the office more fully after her onboarding earlier in the week. And finally - focaccia!

Doors open Friday - Tuesday 11am-4pm
We’re looking to grow the team in Barnstaple so anyone can come and try out working with us for a day.
