I spend a lot of time, energy, and attention on the work that I do. It’s not a hobby; it’s my center of gravity.

I love sharing my work because I feel like it has meaning. I believe art, human art, has power beyond its pigment. And for me, it’s as important as breathing. Sure I enjoy other activities, but my art is my work. It’s an inextricable part of what makes me me.

Thanks for your support, fam. It means a lot. #idonthavehobbies #artisnotahobby by @breemakesart

@breemakesart sees the studio as an environment that evolves alongside her artistic practice. After working in a shared artist building in East Harlem, New York, she is now based primarily in Lisbon, where she creates from a bright home studio shaped around her own rhythm and process.

Living with insomnia, Chapin often transforms restless late night hours into moments of creation. Rather than following a strict routine, she works in intense bursts, developing multiple projects at once. The resulting chaos in her studio becomes an extension of her creative energy, reflected throughout her paintings.

Although primarily a painter and muralist, Chapin values experimentation and keeps a variety of materials, books, and personal objects in her studio, including her skull model, René. After each productive period, she reorganizes the space and rotates the works on her walls, preparing the studio for the next creative cycle.

For Chapin, the studio remains in constant dialogue with light, the city, and the sounds beyond her window, becoming an active presence that continues to shape her artistic practice. by @breemakesart

The painting is a window, perhaps a door. Time folds in on itself and we see an ominous scene playing through the miasma of color and disorientation. The bombers fly overhead, are they coming or going? The figure of a woman is tangled or perhaps wrapped in the plastic analog of linear memory itself. Tell me, is her face in fear or exaltation or ecstasy? You can never hear the same song twice.

Artist Yana Toyber (@yanatoyber) recently stopped by Quiet Lunch (@quietlunch) headquarters in Flatiron and after we properly caught up, she asked to take photos of some of the interesting parts the office.

This sounds like a regular occurrence but with the transformative state that I've been in these past couple of years, it actually birthed a moment of divine gratitude.

Being a working creative, I find myself always toiling towards a goal. Rarely do I stop to take time and just thank my own sweet bippy that I get to do what I love every day. Sure, it isn't always Prosecco and crème brûlée. Sometimes it's Dasani water and Hunts ketchup packets...

*Stares off into oblivion*

But I digress...

What I do is important to me and the space that I do it in serves a visual dedication to all the artists that I've work with and various accomplishments--ours, their own and mind. My little 5th Avenue den of madness is a cluttered shrine in which I continue to worship my life's purpose.

Yana and I met over a decade ago; but I'm currently refamiliarizing myself her work. I'm a fan reborn. Her photographic eye is an endearing one. Her photography itself is candid and sincere. She captures the genuine soul of what is in view.

In view: A picture of my grandmother on my father's side, an illustration by Maia Del Estal, a sticker by Bree, works by Justin Aversano, a flyer for David "Star City" White's My Red is Not Your Red, a letter from Esther, a Polaroid self-portrait by Anna Bloda, a print by Boris Bernard, a piece by KEEBS, a painting by Jeffrey Melo, KNICKS IN FIVE, a flyer for a solo exhibition by Alannah Farrell and a piece by Andrew Adames of Planta Industrial.

THANK YOU.

P.S. - It's Yana's birthday yet somehow she's given me the gift of being present.

THE GIFT OF GRATITUDE.

THANK YOU, YANA.

🎨 A Space for Connection at 2Cookinn

What do workshops truly mean to us at 2Cookinn?
To us, it is about Connection.

Connection means breaking out of isolation to build networks, alliances, and exciting new collaborative models. This translates into developing deep relationships between stores, brands, and our local community. We believe in opening up to networking with entities not directly linked to our daily business, creating brand-new links, and adding fresh value to one’s expertise. (extracted from The Manifesto of Milano Home 2nd edition @milanohome.exhibition)

As we reflect on our vision, Art has always been an important element in our community.🌟. Art isn’t just something to look at—it is the bridge that brings us together.

This November, we invite you to step into our space, break routine, and create new links with us through two incredible hands-on experiences:

✨ 1. Modern Kintsugi Workshop with Miyuki san @kintsugi_miu

Learn the traditional Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer and gold dust. Bring your own cherished piece and transform its flaws into beautiful history.

✨ 2. Gold-Leaf Workshop with Bree Chapin @breemakesart

Come to learn a craft, leave with a new community network. Spaces for both intimate sessions are limited to ensure meaningful connections.

We met both amazing artists right here at 2Cookinn, where our connections began!

In a time when we are increasingly being told to accept the compressing of our lives and the erosion of our liberty solely for the enrichment of those with more greed than humanity… be like the gull! Be ungovernable!
Sois incontrôlable!
Sê descontrolável!

Thank you to @enzhorgues.festival @up__mag and the lovely people of Horgues 🇫🇷 for giving me such a fantastic canvas to unleash my flock of feathered punks! #beungovernable #muralstreetart #muralsfrance taken in Horgues, Midi-Pyrenees, France by @breemakesart

Standing at the precipice, bound by the ribbon of tape unraveling from the cassette relic in her hand.

Every time you hear the tape, it changes irrevocably. The same mechanism that plays the music alters it forever. The song you remember can never play twice. Here come the planes.

Partially inspired by Laurie Anderson’s “O Superman” this series explores themes of human fragility, impermanence, and the disorientation of existing in a rapidly shifting world through ominous imagery soaked in symbolism.

I love a little pop of human intrigue—what tea is she about to spill?
I like to think that the people who have my paintings on their walls feel a connection with the character, the personality of each piece…. That moment between what you expect and what happens instead 😘 ✌️
