So so so excited to announce that I’ve been selected as an @asics Sound Mind Sound Body ambassador for a third year in a row!!

ASICS makes the absolute best running shoes and apparel in the world, but their emphasis on empowering the mind and spirit through movement is ultimately what makes them stand out. Sound Mind Sound Body highlights not only the importance of physical health but also mental health and happiness through movement and running. Representing @asicsrunning for the last two years has been absolute dream, and I’m over the moon to represent such a powerful and impactful brand for another year!

As a runner and leader in the Portland running community, my number one goal has always been to connect people together and build community over running fast times. I am honored to be able to do this at @portlandrunningco and now @rosecitytrack . My goal in 2026 is to extend the SMSB influence out of just Portland to the greater PNW and nationwide with other SMSB ambassadors (along with one of my closest friends who will represent @asicstrail 👀 🏔️ 🌲 ). Also excited to document my journey to completing the rest of six world marathon major stars (London 🇬🇧 and Berlin 🇩🇪) as an ASICS SMSB ambassador to push the SMSB spirit globally!!

Anyways, looking forward to the best year ahead, and as always, thanks to @tech_rep_pnw for believing in me!! Let’s get after it!!

WE ARE ENGAGED!!!

Yesterday, I proposed to Emma off the Alder Trail in Forest Park just off of Wildwood, and she said yes!!!!! (Although my brain might have heard it as a “yeee”) We were “supporting a 31 mile Wildwood End to End run” at the NW 53rd Trailhead and then went on a hike on trails she’s been on hundreds of times ever since she was a child. At the start of the hike, I pointed out the blue diamonds on Wildwood, and she casually mentioned that maybe one day I would give her a diamond; little did she know… 😂 👀 💍 💎

We feel so humbled and grateful for all the love and support from our friends and family yesterday!! We had friends and family come from afar to be part of this special day (shoutout to my parents and brother for escaping the -40 windchill in Chicago)! We are just so so so happy and can’t wait to spend forever with each other ❤️❤️❤️

Emma is 1 of 1, and man I’m the luckiest guy in the world to be with her 🫶🫶🫶 (I also won @hinge )

*Shoutout to my running friends who actually ran a significant part of the Wildwood Trail when I suggested this proposal idea! And major props to Joe Peacock who literally sprinted down Wildwood after already running 26+ miles on the trail to capture these special moments that will last forever ❤️❤️❤️

Maybe the real six star medal was the friends we made and the person I became along the way ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

What a full-heart race weekend in Berlin. The crowds and energy were electric, and I felt so grateful to toe the line with so many running friends and to be cheered by so many friends and loved ones. When I started this six star journey, I lived in Urbana, Illinois and mainly trained solo. Now finishing this journey in Berlin, I realized how many lifelong friends and core memories I’ve made along the way to six (Prater Biergarten will always have a special place in my heart). I had a moment this past weekend where I said to myself “Wow. I am literally on the subway with my fiance in Berlin to meet with my Portland running friends at a Beer garden after finishing the World Marathon Major Six Stars”. 10 years ago 21 year old Brendan would just be absolutely floored to see how much marathon running has brought to his life (he also would say “wait, you did the six marathon majors? And you’re getting married?!”)

Proud of how I ran given another hot weather race weekend where a PR for me was out the question. At least my bib (neither the front Berlin bib or back six star hopeful bib) didn’t rip off from all of the sweat! Running under the Brandenburg Gate in the last mile to the finish will forever be seared into my memory. There wasn’t a single quiet kilometer at all during the Berlin Marathon race course! So much fun!

People have asked me earnestly: so are you done with marathon running for good after finishing the six? My answer: far from it. With the help of @asics and @asicsrunning , I’ll be doing the California International Marathon in 9 weeks. Every marathon I do, I learn a lot, so I’m excited to take these lessons to CIM this December. Legs truly are feeling good and with the base of Berlin training, I’m excited to see what I can do 👀

Thanks again Berlin 🇩🇪 🫶 🥨*

Berlin Marathon tomorrow!!

Feeling excited, nervous, anxious, grateful, and appreciative for this race. Although this is marathon number 22 for me, I have learned that the nerves and emotions truly never go away 😉

I never really knew where marathon running would take my life when I did my first full nearly 10 years ago: the places I’ve visited, the barriers I’ve crossed, the deep friendships and connections I’ve made, and the person I’ve become. To me, tomorrow’s race is to honor this journey as a six star hopeful and everything that running has brought me. Maybe the real six star was the friends we made along the way and the person I’ve become over the last 10 years…

Shoutout as always to @asics @asicsrunning @tech_rep_pnw @rosecitytrack @portlandrunningco

Let’s go!! Running with all of my heart tomorrow and so stoked to experience all of Berlin!! 🫶 taken in Berlin, Germany by @brendan_eng

Made it to Germany, and it’s race week!

It’s been hard to put into words what this marathon build and journey to the six stars has meant to me. I’ll try to articulate sometime maybe later this week (trust me, I have a lot of thoughts/journaling), but for now I’ll say I’m flooded with gratitude for my loved ones and friends who have supported me on this journey.

Feeling really excited! Put in probably on paper one of my best marathon builds of all time (and Berlin will be marathon number 22) and am excited to see what I can do Sunday!

Shoutout as always to @asics for the best running shoes and apparel, @rosecitytrack for all the shared threshold miles and long runs, and @portlandrunningco for all of the Thirsty Thursdays and running goodies.

For now, I’m finishing the taper and doing research to see what is the most appropriate @asicsrunning shoe and apparel to get me into a club in Berlin. Stay tuned!

The new @asics Gel Kayano 33 is the best daily trainer for max stability with a nice cushioned ride! With a combination of FF Blast Plus and FF Blast Max foams, it’s a responsive shoe that’s still soft and lightweight for all types of efforts. The pureGEL technology is 65% softer, and the new FLUIDSUPPORT technology helps provide stability while maintaining natural foot motions and gaits for runners!

It’s no doubt the best stability shoe in the market, but there are other ways to provide stability outside of running shoes. My friends, run clubs, and sweet treats are my “highly cushioned stability daily trainer” 🥰 🤗 🏃‍♂️ How do you use running to find stability in your daily life?

Go get you a pair of ASICS Gel Kayano 33 at @portlandrunningco or local run specialty store!
