In the middle of the night last night, my favorite person in the whole world, my mom, passed on with my sisters by her side. I will spend the rest of my life trying to match her resiliency and grace, and I will never get there. She taught me everything I need to know about humanity and respect, especially for those trying to make a better life for themselves. She ate, drank and breathed politics and could frame complex issues in a way that helped me see how real people would be affected by far away decisions. She lost everything she had in September of 2013. Her house, her husband, over 50 years of memories, keepsakes and hopes and dreams, gone in an instant, and she never once said “why me?” She never said “if only…….” She just started over, holding her family close and cherishing every opportunity to spend time with her kids, grand kids and great grand kids. As her body failed her, her mind stayed sharp, almost to the end. She never complained, she focussed on those that she loved and found a way to deal with the rest.

She was my biggest fan, especially in times when I needed one. Even in times when I didn’t feel like I deserved one. She was always there to point out what I was doing right, even when everything seemed to be going wrong. I am the luckiest kid in the world to be Cheron Boland’s son. I wish everyone knew what it was like to be loved and supported the way she loved and supported me. She called every Friday and every Sunday and we often swapped calls many other days. I am going to miss those talks. I miss them already. I love you mom. I hope the dancehall in the sky is better than you ever could have dreamed and that you and dad are scratching circles over every inch of it. by @brentboland

I largely quit posting to my personal social media in January of 2025 but some things deserve to be shown so folks that love these boys can see.

Our second single Match & Gasoline is now available everywhere you find music. In September 2021, the band had booked their first run of shows outside of the Denver area. The goal was to get out and play places we had never been to and meet new people. Just before we were set to leave, Brent got COVID and instead of taking off on our first run of shows away from home, he ended up quarantined in his basement. Match & Gasoline came from those days in the basement, thinking about what was being missed.

Match & Gas was written and sung by @brentboland (guitar) with @alien_alkemy (mandolin), Chris Hawes (dobro), @davidbuytas (bass guitar) @steveknapp_crow_drummer (drums), and @asgarciapl (guitar). We hope that you will take the time to give it a spin.

It seems crazy that just a few months ago, things were very much up in the air as we waited to hear about Davey’s recovery and interest in playing again. Once he decided he was back, it has been all gas, no brakes. We are really proud of what has come together and we can’t wait to share our first single. Never Mine is our first release since shifting gears and playing all acoustic. Written and sung by @asgarciapl (guitar) with @alien_alkemy (mandolin), Chris Hawes (dobro), @davidbuytas (bass guitar) @steveknapp_crow_drummer (drums), @brentboland (guitar), this song recounts the mistakes of a younger man living at the top of the great divide at St. Mary’s glacier. We hope that you will take the time to give it a spin.

We have a couple more that we will be sharing soon and plans to get back to recording late in the summer. Hopefully Never Mine is just the beginning of a steady flow of music from us for the rest of the year.

January 20th starts a new chapter. Your internet outrage means nothing. Your donations to your local homeless shelter or food bank mean everything to someone who truly needs and deserves it. May the many who choose to treat others with the kindness and compassion that all people deserve overrun those that spread disinformation, sow division and count on your fear until messages like this are irrelevant. Social media is not real. How I choose to help and receive help from my fellow man is real. Turn off your tv. Put down your phone. Who in your community can others count on? Why isn’t it you? Why isn’t it me? We all have a choice. This is a new day and we can be part of the reason that everything stays the same or gets worse or we can be part of the reason that things start to get a little better for everyone we touch. The choice is yours. What will you choose? Feed the algorithm or feed the hungry? by @brentboland

Thanks to everybody that made it out to hang with us this weekend at @rockgardenlyons , @westernskybarco and Hover Manor Senior Living facility. We had a great time with you all and it was all smiles until we told the Hover Manor folks that we weren’t going to play any songs by Billie Eilish…… they love Billie Eilish. Huge thanks to Dave Pucul and @jackyoderamericana for holding things down on the bass for us this weekend. We couldn’t have done it without you. We have a big show announcement coming this week to close out 2024 and we will be mercilessly posting to try to fill the room on November 16th in Denver. It is going to be so good. We promise. Hey friends! I am playing a short set at @oskarblueslyons this January 28th at 3pm. There is incredible music taking place all over Lyons Sunday starting at 10am. I am really excited to be playing in between Jason Hicks of the Blue Canyon Boys and @renemoffatt . Both are amazing musicians. I can’t wait to hear what they, and others, have to play!
