In just two short weeks, I’ll officially be playing Tulagi | Boulder Roots @boulderrootsmusicfest this August 27–30.

I’ll be sharing the lineup with a wide spread of artists, from national names to homegrown Colorado talent. Very excited to be a part of the festivities!

It is hard to imagine losing a place.

For six years we came to this place, as a family of three, creating a tradition filled with lasting memories. We learned to hike. We learned to fish. We slept in our first bunkbed and saw our first moose. We made new friends, enjoyed meals and songs around the campfire, and had heaps of french fries with plenty of ketchup.

For six years we made the journey up here, never once thinking that we wouldn’t be able to do it again the next year.

At this point we don’t know if anyone will be able to access this land after this year, and it is so hard to think that we have just lost one of our most memorable family traditions.

Piney River Ranch, you will surely be missed. Thank you for the memories, the views, the fresh air and friends, and of course, the ketchup.

Over a decade ago I wanted to figure out a way to photograph bands as a job. So, I started with local bands I liked, and offered to shoot a show, just to get to know some folks. The first band I asked was Strange Americans. I loved their music, and they seemed like a rad group of guys.

Fast forward to now, and we’ve worked together on and off over the years, on photos, videos, and album art, and I still love their tunes.

I popped in to check out their album release show at the Federal Theater last week, and it was the best rock and roll show I have seen in a long while. I was pumped to make some photographs, but even more so to see some good old friends do their thing and have a blast on that stage.
Cheers guys, the new record is 12/10.

Creativity is a funny thing. Sometimes it’s a drought and I can’t figure out how to write a song or make a photograph. And sometimes you start an Etsy store just because you can’t stop making things while also writing more than ever before.
This has been a fun exercise in starting something and seeing it all the way through to the end. The end product of a photograph or EP is so intangible, it’s hard to feel the gratification of that finished product. But here I’ve got something I can hold and wear.
