I’m so happy to share that my article with CBC is officially published 💛

Growing up Jamaican in Canada, mental health wasn’t something we talked about — until depression forced me to face it.

I worked on this piece since last year, believing in my story and hoping it could open space for more compassion and honest conversations about Black mental health.

This moment means so much to me. It’s proof that our stories matter, our voices deserve to be heard, and there is always space for truth. I hope by sharing my story it encourages us to talk more about mental health in our community. Because talking about it is how we heal.

A prayer journal is a great way to connect with God and write down your prayers. Journaling in general is a great way to release certain thoughts and feelings without judgement. It was amazing being on a panel to discuss mental health, especially since it’s mental health awareness month. Being a Jamaican Canadian, mental health conversations definitely are different than most.
