Everyone should have a friend like Tigger!
Find joy in everything you do.

I found this illustration in my files today. Can't remember what it was for, however, it brought a smile to my face!

It's our choice...We can be either a Tigger or an Eeyore.

Keep on smiling, my friends!

I have some exciting news...at least for me!

I have been invited to draw trading cards for Saturday Morning Cards!

What is Saturday Morning Cards you ask?

It's an up and coming company that creates cards for the hot trend of trading cards.

They create digital cards and also one-of-a-kind originals, which I posted here.

How many of you are Inspector Gadget fans?

My daughters LOVED this program created by the great people at DIC.

I was tasked with creating 10 original pieces of the famed cartoon private investigator on cards.

I have to admit...it offers me a vacation from drawing the Disney characters.

I drew the images on the cards they provided, and then used special markers to render them.

This is a great way for me to "scratch my creative itch" so to speak.

LOVE The Haunted Mansion!

Who doesn't?

My first trip to Walt DisneyWorld was in February of 1977 during February vacation in my Senior year of High School

I vividly recall going to the Magic Kingdom with my cousin and standing on Main Street awaiting for it to open.

Main Street was open, however the rest was not.

There was a rope that extended across the front of Cinderella's Castle.

When the time approached, we witnessed a plethora of Disney characters, accompanied by Mickey Mouse, walking out from the Castle to drop the rope and officially welcome the guests.

When this happened, we bolted to the left to Frontierland and to the Haunted Mansion!

I will never forget the thrill of actually seeing the Mansion for the first time.

I designed the attached tshirt graphic, and I must say, I am sure I refected on that initial experience so long ago.

What was your first experience at the Magic Kingdom?

I recall when "Alien Encounter" was replaced with "Stitch's Great Escape" because it was deemed too intense for people.
I have to agree.
A great imagination can certainly convince you that you are being attacked by an escaped creature from deep space.
Truthfully, I LOVED it!
My young daughters did not!
Feeling the alleged creature sneaking around in a dark room, breathing on your neck and drooling on its unsuspecting victims certainly called for unsolicited screams and gasps.
I laughed!
Well, I had the job of creating a tshirt graphic for the attraction once it was replaced by Stitch.
I had him running into the park while eating my favorite Disney Park treat...A Mickey Premium Bar!
You see, that's the great thing about being a Disney merchandise artist...you get to add "Easter eggs" to the art, providing it was family friendly.
What was your favorite rendition of this attraction...Alien Encounter or Stitch's Great Escape?

Please "like" this if you love Disney.

As a Disney merchandise artist, we have to be always up for the challenge of drawing many different characters for merchandise purposes.

This challenge was no exception.

When Disney purchased the 20th Century Fox library, naturally we were included in the development of a Halloween program for the Simpsons!

Who doesn't like Homer and his family?

This was a fun project.

We had to show all our work to the Animation team of the Simpsons for obvious reasons.

They provided us with detailed model sheets and excellent notes.

Although the characters look very simple in design, do not be fooled by their looks.

They are VERY challenging!

I attached some of my illustrations, with comments by the Simpson artists.

I guess I should have been ecstatic that they only had some tweaks.

This program went on to become a variety of merchandise offerings available to the public.

Have you seen the results out there?

How many of you are Simpson fans?

This is the book I wrote about in yesterday’s post! I just noticed it was published in Germany in 1965 - that means the original version was probably published before this date! I got this for about 10 bucks when I came to Germany and ever since I noticed this book was very popular among German families in the 60s and 70s! It’s definitely worth having!

Yesterday I posted a "How To Draw" for Ranger Woodlore.

It's only fitting that I post one for Humphrey The Bear!
Let's see how you do!

Who loves Humphrey?

Here's a great Disney character that we don't see often enough.

Ranger Woodlore!!

This fun-loving, by- the -book ranger was in some of the most memorable Disney cartoon shorts.

He was featured with Donald Duck in cartoons like "Beezy Bear" along with his co-star....Humphrey the Bear!

He kinda reminded me of a modern day Mr. Smee...probably because they shared the same voice. LOL!

Anyway, have fun learning how to draw the Ranger!

Are you as big of a fan as I am?

It's been awhile since I posted a "How To".

How about we draw Sorceror Mickey!

Did you know that Dopey was considered for the role before Mickey?

Snow White was released in 1938 and Dopey was VERY popular for obvious reasons.

Well, during that time period, Donald Duck was becoming increasingly popular...to the point that Walt was concerned his famous mouse was losing ground.

It was at that time that Walt stated that Mickey would get the role.

It proved to be the best idea, and Mickey again soared in popularity, much to the happiness of Walt.

What do you think? Do you think Dopey would have been a great Sorceror's Apprentice?

Well, I mentioned some time ago, that I was asked to return to the Epcot FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS for 2027!

I was thrilled then to make that announcement, and I am back to now officially tell you that I am looking forward to seeing you at Epcot!

The official dates for FOTA are January 25th thru March 1st 2027.

I have created four special pieces for the event, and I am busting at the seams to show you.

I was thinking that I would let you know as we near November to show you what I have worked on.

Dates and art availability are subject to change. (Disney disclaimer)

The above image is NOT one of the paintings, just to let you know.

I came across some old concepts I did for some paintings.
I know I mentioned that back in the old days we were allowed, and encouraged to do mashups.
In this case, it was Star Wars and Disney.
We even had walkaround characters dressed as Star Wars characters.
This was especially fun during "Star Wars Weekends" which was featured at Disney/MGM Studios aka Disney Hollywood Studios.
Mickey was a Jedi, Donald, a Stormtrooper, Goofy as Darth Vadar, and last, but certainly not least, Minnie as Princess Leah.
Of course, rules change, and this mashup was no exception.
The Disney characters are no longer permitted to be any of the Lucas characters.
That is unfortunate, since it was fun and the guests truly enjoyed the depictions.
Do you recall those days at the Studios?

I know I mentioned this before... every once in a while someone would get their artwork utilized on something it wasn't intended for.

Such is the case in the example shown here.

I designed and drew the art for a t-shirt.

Somehow it ended up on the 32 anniversary of WDW pin.

This was only available internally for cast members, I believe.

Anyways, always do your best...because you never know where it's going to end up!
