America’s 250th birthday is worth celebrating and today we got to do it in style with Burke United Christian Ministries!

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints partnered with America250 to deliver 250 truckloads of food to 250 food pantries across the United States this year. We were over the moon when we found out that Burke County was a recipient of one of those trucks.

We are grateful for Burke United Christian Ministries efforts to provide sustainable food to those in need in our county. Their work is crucial for our brothers and sisters who need a leg up and a helping hand. This donation of over 18,000 lbs of shelf stable food will help be a small part of their mission.

I feel very thankful to have had an opportunity to be part of this delivery and get to bring the community together to celebrate this partnership. A great day for Burke County! by @brianstevenking

Tonight was my favorite night of the year! The BCPS Inclusive Talent Show. Watching inclusion in action! I am so proud to be a small part of Burke County Public Schools. Every child deserves to share the spotlight and shine!
I am also EXTREMELY PROUD of my wife and all of the hard work she has put into finding talents, making videos, and helping make sure this night was perfect for so many students!!! She amazes me every single day! Her dedication to her students and love for her calling inspires me!

This year we celebrated our fourth wedding anniversary. Between beach fun at the Carolina coast and projects at home in the Blue Ridge Mountains, we have found adventure wherever we are. We expanded our flower garden; Brian built trellises and Katie filled it with new colors, textures, and life that only her green thumb could. Our Christmas card photo this year captures just a small part of that magic.

We continue to love our work with Burke County Public Schools; Katie as an occupational therapist and Brian in secondary education. Our sweet Clover loves belly rubs, walks, and carrots as much as ever! We cherish the time we spend with our families, especially our two precious nieces, welcoming a third niece this Christmas.

The Christmas season is our favorite time of the year; not only for the lights and laughter, but for the chance to joyfully celebrate our Savior. We are grateful for all that we have been given and for the peace the Gospel of Jesus Christ provides to us. As we strive to remember and focus on the true meaning of Christmas, we count it a blessing that you are part of our lives.

10 YEARS!

Long Post Ahead!

10 years in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints!

The opportunity to be a missionary, attend BYU, and marry my eternal companion are just a few of the many blessings that I have experienced.

I could go on about the journey and the many different milestones, but I want to focus on something else today.

10 years and 10 lessons for eternity!

1. It is okay not to be perfect. Just keep trying. - To quote President Russell M. Nelson, “The Lord loves effort.”
2. God is interested in you! - If it matters to you, then it matters to God.
3. Don’t sweat the small stuff. - It all comes out in the wash. Keep an eternal perspective.
4. Covenants bring power. - Promises made with God connect us to Him and help us face life’s challenges.
5. Truth will prevail! - God’s word is eternal and unchanging. His truth brings clarity, peace, and direction. No matter the opposition, the light of Christ always shines through the darkness.
6. Bury the hatchet! - Do away with bad feelings. Resolve being offended.
7. Recognize the little miracles. - Faith is built on small acts of everyday miracles.
8. We are ALL God’s children. - No church label or lack thereof defines your divine birthright. Embrace your eternal potential!
9. Families are forever. - “…the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children.” (The Family Proclamation)
10. God loves you! - It is simple: We have a Heavenly Father who wants each of us to return to live with Him. He wants you to align your life and make the best and biggest effort possible to consecrate your efforts toward eternity!

10 years and 10 lessons that have changed my life.

I have stood on the banks of a sea halfway across the world and felt the same love from my Heavenly Father that I do here in my backyard.

I have experienced some of the greatest joys that this life has to offer, and I hope to experience many more.

Most of all, I have learned that I am a little further on my journey today than I was yesterday, and tomorrow I will be further than today.

Each day is a new opportunity filled with goodness and love from our Father in Heaven!

Happy Anniversary, my love!
Four years ago, you made me the luckiest man on earth, and today I still feel the same way.

For those who know Katherine, they know that no problem is too big and no person is too small. I am grateful every day that you teach me love, forgiveness, charity, and humility through the way you live.

Your willingness to love and serve others is truly remarkable. I am so thankful to call you my wife and best friend.
