Last night, the Alpha Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. hosted its Centennial Charter Commemorative Ceremony at Newark Symphony Hall honoring a century of leadership, service and impact in Newark. The historic 123rd House of Alpha reflected on its legacy and looked ahead to its next century of service.

A heartfelt thank you to our dynamic keynote speaker, Bro. Marc H. Morial, Chairman & CEO of the National Urban League, for powerful and inspiring remarks. His message reminded us why voting in the upcoming elections is critically important.

Congratulations and thank you to this evening’s honorees:
• Our local Divine 9 organizations
• Urban League of Essex County
• Newark Symphony Hall

Special thanks to Master of Ceremony Bro. Dr. Charles Washington, our President Bro. Fred Davis, Jr., and every brother, elected official and guest who made this celebration so special.

When young men see that the brothers of Alpha Alpha Lambda are invested in them, it changes what they believe is possible. We show up with our time, and our guidance to let these young men know they are loved and don’t have to figure it out alone.

That’s the heart of Project Alpha, affectionately known as the Young Kingz Program. We pride ourselves on sharing the message that the choices you make today shape the man you become. Through honest conversations and mentorship, young men ages learn about responsibility, healthy relationships, finances, and navigating every day life by gaining the knowledge, confidence, and skills to protect their future and lead with purpose.

That’s why the Economic Empowerment Committee of Alpha Alpha Lambda does this work. Through partnerships with organizations such as the Urban League of Essex County, we bring free sessions on banking, money management, mortgages, and growing a business directly to our community in Newark.
