I was very pleased to join Commissioner of Police of the @the.barbados.police.service Sonia Boyce, and her various divisions of The Service, at the’ L.Mark Thompson - 5k Run and Walk’, in honour of the late Acting Commissioner of Police, Mark Thompson; a pillar of St. James North.

The event provided a fantastic atmosphere for the police, their families, other members of the protective services, and the wider public to be engaged in camaraderie, fitness, sportsmanship and a sense of national community.

Due commendation must be given to Commissioner Boyce and her team for a well executed event.

🇧🇧There are moments in the life of a military force when the true meaning of service is brought into sharp focus. Our deployment to Venezuela is one such moment.
I recently had the privilege of accompanying the Hon Mia Amor Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados as she visited our field hospital and witnessed firsthand the extraordinary work being undertaken by the men and women of the BDF, alongside our dedicated civilian volunteers.
What they are doing is a profound expression of service. Every patient treated and every life saved is a reminder that the strength of a nation is measured not only by its capacity to protect, but also by its willingness to serve. They have placed duty before comfort, service before self and humanity above all else. They deserve our undying gratitude and unwavering support.

May we always remember that the highest expression of strength is found in service to others.🇧🇧

🏏🇧🇧In this moment, beneath the weight of history and the silence of a grieving nation, I was reminded that true greatness is not measured only by records, trophies or applause. Sir Garry gave Barbados more than cricket. He gave us belief. He showed a small island that excellence could stand on the world stage without apology.

To lay this wreath at his State Funeral was not merely a ceremonial duty; it was a deeply humbling honour. May we all live our lives worthy of the example that he left behind.

Rest well, Sir Garry. Barbados salutes you. 🇧🇧 taken in Coral Ridge Memorial Gardens by @brigadierlovell

🇧🇧Honouring a National Hero 🇧🇧
Specially selected members of the Force were privileged to serve during the Lying-in-State and will continue to serve during the State Funeral of the late Rt. Excellent Sir Garfield Sobers. Officers stood in solemn vigil and rendered final military honours to one of Barbados’ greatest sons. We recognize his sacrifice and salute his excellence. Duty. Dignity. Honour.

🇧🇧💯🫡The future isn’t built in boardrooms or on battlefields alone. It’s built in the moments when the next generation sees honour, discipline and service up close.

Every child we inspire today is a leader who will secure our national legacy tomorrow. We owe it to them.

Yesterday was a celebration of service, family and storytelling.

Graciously hosted by Chief of Staff Brigadier The Hon. Carlos Lovell and the Barbados Defence Force, Minister The Hon. Chad Blackman and Acting Chief Education Officer Julia Beckles attended the launch of My Soldier Dad: An A–Z Activity Book, written by Harriet Clarke.

Told through the eyes of Alicia, the book explores the impact of soldiering on family life through fun facts, activities and colouring pages.

The Ministry of Education Transformation was also pleased to receive copies of the publication, helping more children access and enjoy this uniquely Barbadian story.

Initiatives such as these highlight the importance of sharing our stories and ensuring children see themselves reflected in the books they read. by @brigadierlovell

🇧🇧🇨🇦Strong partnerships are built one conversation at a time.🇨🇦🇧🇧

It was a pleasure to attend the Canada Day celebration with friends, colleagues, members of the diplomatic corps, and representatives from across Barbados.

Let’s be mindful that in a rapidly changing world, meaningful dialogue remains one of the most powerful tools for building understanding and advancing shared interests.
