I was very pleased to join Commissioner of Police of the @the.barbados.police.service Sonia Boyce, and her various divisions of The Service, at the’ L.Mark Thompson - 5k Run and Walk’, in honour of the late Acting Commissioner of Police, Mark Thompson; a pillar of St. James North.

The event provided a fantastic atmosphere for the police, their families, other members of the protective services, and the wider public to be engaged in camaraderie, fitness, sportsmanship and a sense of national community.

Due commendation must be given to Commissioner Boyce and her team for a well executed event.

Growth is not always comfortable. Sometimes it comes through pressure, sacrifice, discipline, correction and moments that test you beyond what you thought you could handle.

But every challenge has shaped me.

This journey taught me that leadership is not simply about holding a position or wearing a title. It is about character, responsibility, integrity, discipline, resilience, and continuing even when the road becomes difficult.

There were moments that challenged me physically, mentally and emotionally, but through it all, I grew.
Stronger. More disciplined. More confident. More aware of the leader I want to be and most importantly, the person I want to become.

Every lesson, challenge, correction and experience played a part in making me who I am today.

This is not the end of the journey,it is the beginning of another chapter. Another opportunity to lead, serve, learn and grow.

I move forward carrying the lessons of the past and looking ahead with purpose and determination.

Here’s to growth, leadership and discipline 🥂✨

Highlights - Merchant Marine Memorial 💐🚢 - Last Sunday, the Barbados Cadet Corps hosted the annual Merchant Marines Memorial Service and Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Barbados Military Cemetery. This solemn occasion paid tribute to the brave men and women of the Merchant Navy who risked, and often gave their lives, to keep global supply lines moving during the First and Second World Wars. The principal guest was Mr Diston Howell, a former Merchant Marine.

During the First and Second World Wars, the Merchant Marines, also known as the Merchant Navy, consisted of a nation's fleet of merchant vessels used to transport goods and passengers. These ships, including container ships, bulk carriers, and ferries, were operated by merchant mariners who ensured the safe and timely delivery of cargo, passengers, and the vessels themselves.

Our Sea Cadets are currently attending the International Sea Cadet Association's Hong Kong Sea Cadet Exchange Programme.

Contingent Commander Lt.(CG) Jerome Bell says the cadets will not only be engaged in naval training but will also participate in a cultural exchange where they will have the opportunity to showcase some of what Barbados has to offer.

As part of the Barbados Cadet Corps Summer Camp, our Star 3 cadets spent some time learning about conservation, biodiversity, and Barbados’ natural heritage during a tour at the Graeme Hall Nature Sanctuary.

Training goes beyond drills — it’s about building awareness and responsibility too.
