On Saturday @almi.nerurkar stormed to a new 5000m PB of 15:11 in Belgium. This fabulous result is a new Club Record and also @sussex_athletics_ County Record - dethroning Sonia McGeorge’s 15:29 from 30 years ago!!

Big, massive, huge thanks to every @brighton_phoenix legend who prepped, signed, bagged, bibbed, paced, biked, watered, iced, jet‑washed, marshalled, photographed and generally brought the chaos‑and‑banter magic yesterday.

Races don’t happen without volunteers. Full stop.

If you’ve never tried it, tap the Race Director at the next event you spot — there will always be a job for you.

Congratulations to everyone who took part in Brighton Phoenix Running Club’s annual 10K charity race on Hove seafront last night!

Despite the warm conditions, runners showed incredible determination and community spirit, raising funds for a number of local charities, including The Clock Tower Sanctuary.

The Mayor was delighted to help start the race and cheer on participants as they took on the challenge!

Brighton Phoenix is a fantastic volunteer-led athletics and triathlon club, supporting around 700 members of all ages and abilities, from casual runners to international-level competitors. Their commitment to inclusive excellence continues to make a real difference across our city.

A huge thank you to all the runners, volunteers and organisers who made the event such a success, keeping participants safe, supported and well hydrated throughout the evening. 🏅👟💙☀️

Meet three of the athletes to watch on Hove Prom this Wednesday.

@lisahartfitness ran her very first marathon at @brightonmarathonweekend back in 2016. With a highly impressive 2:30:16 to win the 2026 London Marathon mass start, this determined runner is excited to be back racing along the promenade.

We’re looking forward to welcoming her back to the south coast!

A @brighton_phoenix superstar with a 30:26 PB, @reuben_hoyte is a tenacious racer who only has positives when asked about the Phoenix 10k. “A summer social by the beach and a race… what’s not to love?”

We’ll let him decide whether to enjoy the beach before or after the finish line.

Our final athlete to announce is local athlete @j.hobbs26. With an outstanding 10k PB from Valencia, he is definitely one to watch. This driven runner says his favourite thing about racing in Brighton is the tailwind… closely followed by the brilliant local running community.

Here at PHX 10K, we take the wellbeing of our participants incredibly seriously.

With many rival sporting events switching to hydration breaks every quarter, we will be sticking to tradition: water will be available at halfway.

We recommend taking at least three minutes to bring down your core temperature - but absolutely no tactics talks. That means no debating which tall person to shelter behind for the next few kilometres, and no planning what pose to strike for the photographer.

Our water station will be manned by our top team. After months of intensive preparation, our junior athletes are ready for the biggest cup handover of the summer. They’re ready. The rest is up to you. by @brighton_phoenix
