Type High zine! I finally created and letterpress printed a zine and it includes a poster. Thank you to Marijke @xeroxdays for encouraging me to just simply give zine making a go. It took me a while to get over my fear of “what if people don’t like it”, and just went for it. This zine is a combo of hand-drawn illustrations, polymer plates, metal type with @springtidepress Daredevil Furniture, and EVA craft foam. Printed with kiss impression using fluoro magenta and blue grey inks, on @spicersaus 160gsm Pro Design. Anyone interested in a copy? I might pop copies of it in our online shop. #letterpress #posterzine #typehigh #zine #letterpressprinting taken in Bright Press Whiteman Park by @brightpress_

Type High Day celebrations continued into the next day for a casual print hang with mates @freshlemonprint @dominique_coiffait @pjamesbryans @vintageservicesperth @bondipress , Chris, and Phil B. Some typesetting and printing was completed, as well as catching up on life, geeking over type, and having cake and nibbles. Love this letterpress community! Ps: @freshlemonprint created the two-colour type high day poster, and we all had a turn inking it and printing! #letterpress #typehighday #perthletterpress #printersunite #typehigh taken in Bright Press Whiteman Park by @brightpress_

Happy Type High Day! Did you know: Australian Type High is 0.918 inches (approx 23.3mm)? I had fun typesetting with @springtidepress Daredevil Furniture. And I had a lovely visit from Matt of @bondipress, who motorbiked 4,000 kms from Sydney to Perth. How did you celebrate Type High Day? #letterpress #typehighday #typehigh #perthletterpress #typesetting taken in Bright Press Whiteman Park by @brightpress_

The aftermath from diecutting duplexed stock. Featuring @ballanddoggett Colorplan in Pistachio and Pristine White. People have told me I should be doing something with the diecut papers, but I haven’t yet found a project for them. I’m curious, let me know how would you use papers with a cut out not quite in the middle of the page? #diecutting #perthprinting #letterpress #duplexpaper taken in Bright Press Whiteman Park by @brightpress_

Pantone 551 on the press. I’ve been printing with many colourful inks recently for various client projects. This ink colour looked great on the press this afternoon. Do you have a favourite ink colour on the press? #letterpress #originalheidelberg #printingpress #ink #pantone Birds Eye view of the original Heidelberg windmill platen with light blue ink taken in Bright Press Whiteman Park by @brightpress_

Did you know that the typeface of our Bright Press logo is Cooper Black. I’ve always wanted to have some Cooper Black movable type in our Print Shop. However, I haven’t had much successful in acquiring any. One of my mates @freshlemonprint alerted me that someone was selling some type online, and I immediately jumped at the opportunity. The parcel finally arrived from the US. Of course I had to ink up the type and test it out.
